Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, determining available media content items and identifying a first number of wireless broadcast channels of a wireless network having a limited channel capacity and adapted to broadcast media content items within a coverage area. A demand for a group of media content items is identified, and media content items are selected according to the demand, wherein broadcasting of the selected media content items within the coverage area does not exceed the limited channel capacity. The selected media content items are assigned to a group of broadcast channels of the first number of wireless broadcast channels to obtain a broadcast channel assignment for the coverage area. The wireless network is configured to broadcast the selected media content items within the coverage area via wireless broadcast channels according to the broadcast channel assignment. Demand based selection for cellular broadcast streaming media

Devices, computer-readable media, and methods for allocating a source specific multicast internet protocol address to a streaming media content are disclosed. For example, a processor of a device may receive a streaming media content, allocate a source specific multicast internet protocol address to the streaming media content for a base station of a cellular network, allocate a first broadcast channel of the base station to the streaming media content, and associate the first broadcast channel with the source specific multicast internet protocol address. The processor may further generate a manifest file, the manifest file including an identification of the streaming media content and the source specific multicast internet protocol address, transmit the manifest file via a second broadcast channel of the base station, and transmit the streaming media content via the first broadcast channel of the base station.

Streaming media cellular broadcast

A system and method are disclosed for sending advertising data to an end user device. The system includes but is not limited to a processor in data communication with a computer readable medium; and a computer program embedded in the computer readable medium, the computer program including but not limited to instructions to send first password data to a first group of end user devices that have exchanged a first advertising key data in a first advertising category; and instructions to send first advertising data encoded using the first password to the first group of end user devices.

System and method for internet protocol television product placement data

A processing system may identify a trajectory of a mobile endpoint device from a first management area toward a second management area of the cellular network, identify a first media program that is being broadcast by at least one base station in the first management area on a first broadcast channel that is tuned to by the mobile endpoint device, and determine a level of aggregate demand for the first media program in the second management area, where the level of aggregate demand is increased when it is identified that the mobile endpoint device is tuned to the first broadcast channel. The processing system may further assign the first media program to a second broadcast channel of at least one base station in the second management area based upon the level of aggregate demand, and broadcast the first media program via the second broadcast channel.

Cellular broadcast streaming media selection

An architecture is provided that can scale content resolution in order to mitigate errors in a provisioned service of a communication network, such as a wireless service or a femtocell service that integrates with DSL or other broadband carriers. The architecture can identify fault conditions relating to e.g., bandwidth oversubscription or symbolization integrity. Based upon such identification, the architecture can alter encoding format codecs of certain types of content in order to reduce their resolution/quality, thereby mitigating bandwidth oversubscription fault conditions or freeing up space (without necessarily increasing bandwidth) to insert additional FEC code.

Scaling content communicated over a network

A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a device having a controller programmed to store a subscriber selectable preference for advertisements used for selecting advertisements to send to a set top box and receive a signal from a broadcast stream indicating the location for insertion of an advertisement based on the subscriber selectable preference. System and method of ad delivery

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, a method in which a connection is initiated to an adaptive bit rate (ABR) content delivery network delivering ABR data streams at different bit rates. A manifest associated with the network includes a profile of each data stream and its associated bit rate. The method also includes requesting delivery of content and downloading the content. If the download speed is greater than the delivery bit rate, the manifest is queried for a higher bit rate. If a higher bit rate is not available, a recommendation is received from the content delivery network to obtain additional content via an alternate content stream delivered by a second network. The method further includes selecting the profile for the alternate content stream from the manifest, and receiving the alternate content stream from the second network in accordance with the selecting. System and method for switching between adaptive bit rate and fixed rate streams

A method includes receiving a media stream at a media device and converting, at the media device, the media stream into data packets. The method includes initiating, with the media device, end-to-end connections between the media device and a receiving device via a plurality of cellular network and determining, at the media device, a quality of service factor for each cellular network of the plurality of cellular networks. The method includes selecting, at the media device, a single cellular network of the plurality of cellular networks based on the quality of service factor for each cellular network of the plurality of cellular networks. The method also includes transmitting the data packets from the media device via the single cellular network to the receiving device.

System and method to transmit data packets via a cellular network

A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a server comprising a memory to store executable instructions and a controller coupled to the memory. The controller, responsive to executing the instructions, performs operations comprising presenting a graphical user interface enabling selectable advertisements or a selectable channel distribution service for delivery to a set top box, presenting filters for targeted delivery of advertisements to subscriber equipment based on information descriptive of the subscriber, selecting advertisements from an advertising server based on detected selections of advertisements or a detected channel distribution service preference, transmitting a globally unique identifier of the set top box to a billing server, initiating storage of the selectable advertisements at a remote advertisement delivery server, and presenting the selectable advertisements to the set top box. A particular method includes receiving a media stream that includes digital broadcast grade video. The method further includes compressing the media stream to form a compressed digital media stream using a Joint Photographic Experts Group 2000 compliant compression coding system. The method further includes converting the compressed digital media stream into data packets. The method further includes selecting a cellular data network from a plurality of available cellular data networks based on one or more quality of service factors. The method further includes transmitting the data packets via the cellular data network.

System and method to transmit digital broadcast grade video via a cellular data network

A system that incorporates teachings of the present disclosure may include, for example, a gateway comprising a controller to receive from a communication device a request for media content, receive a key and a record associated with the communications device from an interactive television system, wherein the record comprises a list of entitled media content, determine whether the requested media content is in the list of entitled media content, retrieve the requested media content from the interactive television system when the requested media content is determined to be in the list of entitled media content, encrypt the retrieved media content utilizing the key, and transmit the encrypted media content to the communications device.
