In one embodiment, a method includes receiving a radio frequency (RF) signal; synchronizing the received RF signal with a preamble to determine a time base; determining a first energy value of the received RF signal by averaging received signal strength indication (RSSI) values of the received RF signal over a first period of time; determining a second energy value of the received RF signal over a second period of time; determining a difference value between the first energy value and the second energy value; comparing the difference value with a predetermined energy threshold value; determining a quality value of the received RF signal; comparing the quality value of the received RF signal with a predetermined quality threshold value; and, if the difference value exceeds the predetermined energy threshold value or the quality value is below the predetermined quality threshold value, then erasing the time base.

Receiver and method for the reception of a node by a receiver in a wireless network

In certain embodiments, an apparatus includes circuitry coupled to a switch between a first and second antenna of a device. The circuitry generates a first control signal for the switch to couple a transceiver of the device to the first antenna for transmission of a first data frame. The circuitry determines whether the transceiver has received, within a pre-determined time interval after transmission of the first data frame, a second data frame containing an acknowledgement message confirming successful receipt of the first data frame by another device. The circuitry generates, if the transceiver has not received the second data frame within the pre-determined time interval, a second control signal for the switch to couple the transceiver to the second antenna for re-transmission of the first data frame. An output line of the apparatus couples the circuitry to the switch and communicates the first or second control signal to the switch.

Transmitting/receiving device and method for transmitting data in a radio network

In certain embodiments, a device includes a first filter. The first filter is operable to produce at least one correlation result by at least correlating an input signal sequence with a link sequence. The first filter includes a delay element. The device also includes a second filter sharing the delay element of the first filter.

Correlation device

In one embodiment, a method includes receiving an instruction for a transceiver of a device to transmit a first data frame; in response to the instruction, generating a first control signal for a switch to couple the transceiver to a first antenna for transmission of the first data frame by the transceiver via the first antenna; determining whether the transceiver has received within a pre-determined time interval after the transmission of the first data frame a second data frame containing an acknowledgement message confirming successful receipt of the first data frame by another device; and, if the transceiver has not received within the pre-determined time interval after the transmission of the first data frame the second data frame, then generating a second control signal for the switch to couple the transceiver to the second antenna for re-transmission of the first data frame by the transceiver via a second antenna.

A method and device is provided for detecting data symbols in a received radio signal. Each data symbol is allocated transmit-side a symbol value-specific PN sequence of successive PN chips in the chip clock, and the allocated PN sequences are offset QPSK modulated. The method for incoherent detection includes converting the received radio signal into a complex baseband signal sampled in the chip clock, generating a demodulated signal by differential demodulation of the complex baseband signal, calculating correlation results by correlating the demodulated signal with the derived sequences, and deriving the values of the data symbols by evaluating the correlation results. Each derived sequence is assigned to a PN sequence allocable transmit-side and includes derived chips, whose values correspond to a logic linking of particular PN chips of the PN sequence allocable transmit-side that is assigned the derived sequence. The invention relates furthermore to a corresponding receiving unit.

Method and receiving unit for the detection of data symbols

In one embodiment, a detection unit includes a sequence providing unit to provide a third group of derived sequences. The third group for each first pseudo noise (PN) sequence has a derived sequence assigned to the first PN sequence. The detection unit includes a correlation unit, which is connected to the sequence providing unit and formed to calculate correlation results by correlating the differentially demodulated signal with each derived sequence of the third group. The detection unit includes an evaluation unit, which is connected to the correlation unit and is formed to derive the values of the data symbols by evaluating the correlation results.

Differential detection a communication system

In certain embodiments, a circuitincludes a dividing device configured to divide a transmission bit sequence into a first bit sequence and a second bit sequence, bits adjacent to each other in the transmission bit sequence being separated by a bit time. The circuit includes a first device configured to generate first sampled values by sampling at a sampling rate a first fundamental wave that is based on the first bit sequence, and includes a second device configured to generate second sampled values by sampling at the sampling rate a second fundamental wave that is based on the second bit sequence, the second fundamental wave being shifted relative to the first fundamental wave by a time period. The circuit includes a summator configured to sum the first sampled values of the first fundamental wave and the second sampled values of the second fundamental wave to form an output value sequence.

Transmission circuit and method for transmitting a bit sequence to be transmitted

In one embodiment, a method includes generating a set of sequences of chip values and calculating a correlation between a demodulated signal and each one of two or more of the sequences. Each of the correlations has an absolute value, and one of the correlations has a highest absolute value. The method includes selecting the one of the sequences with the correlation having the highest absolute value; identifying a sequence index corresponding to the selected one of the sequences; and, for each of one or more data symbols in the demodulated signal, determining a value of the data symbol based on the sequence index corresponding to the selected one of the sequences.

Detecting data symbols

A correlation device is provided that includes an adder for adding an input signal sequence and an auxiliary signal sequence to obtain an addition signal sequence, and a delay element for delaying the addition signal sequence to obtain the auxiliary signal sequence, whereby the delay element has a plurality of coefficient outputs for providing addition signal sequence coefficients. The correlation device comprises further a linking element for the coefficient-wise linking of an addition signal sequence coefficient with a linking coefficient to obtain a correlation result.

A method and device is provided for the detection of data symbols contained in a received radio signal, whereby each data symbol is allocated transmit-side a symbol value-specific PN sequence of successive PN chips in the chip clock and the PN sequences allocated to the data symbols are offset QPSK modulated. The method of the invention for incoherent detection provides for converting the received radio signal into a complex baseband signal sampled in the chip clock, generating a demodulated signal by differential demodulation of the complex baseband signal sampled in the chip clock, providing the derived sequences, calculating correlation results by correlating the demodulated signal with the derived sequences, and deriving, i.e., detecting, the values of the data symbols by evaluating the correlation results. In this case, each derived sequence is assigned to a PN sequence allocable transmit-side and includes derived chips, whose values in each case correspond to a logic linking of particular PN chips of the PN sequence allocable transmit-side that is assigned the derived sequence. The invention relates furthermore to a corresponding receiving unit.

In one embodiment, a detection unit includes a sequence providing unit to provide a third group of derived sequences. The sequence providing unit has a counting unit and multiplexers connected to the counting unit. Fixed values are applied at the inputs of the multiplexers and the sequence providing unit provides the derived sequences of the third group at the outputs of the multiplexers. The third group for each first pseudo noise (PN) sequence has a derived sequence assigned to the first PN sequence. The detection unit includes a correlation unit, which is connected to the sequence providing unit and formed to calculate correlation results by correlating the differentially demodulated signal with each derived sequence of the third group. Differential detection unit for the zigbee 802.15.4 standard

A transmission circuit and method for transmitting a bit sequence to be transmitted is provided that includes a dividing device for dividing the bit sequence into an even-numbered bit sequence and into an odd-numbered bit sequence, a first device for forming the first sampled values of a first fundamental wave depending on the even-numbered bit sequence, a second device for forming second sampled values of a second fundamental wave depending on the odd-numbered bit sequence, the second fundamental wave being shifted relative to the first fundamental wave by a time period, and includes a summator for summation of the first sampled values of the first fundamental wave and the second sampled values of the second fundamental wave to form an output value sequence.

A detection unit is disclosed for the detection of data symbols contained in a demodulated signal, whereby band spreading occurs transmit-side with the use of first sequences, whose first chips each assume one of two different first values. The detection unit comprises the following units: a) a sequence providing unit, which is designed to provide a group of second sequences with at least one second chip, whereby each second sequence is assigned to a first sequence and each second chip assumes a specific value of at least two different second values, which differ amount-wise from the first values, and whereby the group has at least one second sequence that has a higher level than the first sequences, b) a correlation unit which is connected to the sequence providing unit and is designed to calculate correlation results by correlating the demodulated signal with each second sequence of the group, and c) an evaluation unit which is connected to the correlation unit and is designed to derive the values of the data symbols by evaluating the correlation results. Detection unit and method for the detection of data symbols

A device for transmitting and receiving is disclosed that includes: a) an antenna, b) a transmitting/receiving unit for transmitting and receiving data according to a communications standard, which has a transmitting unit, connected to the antenna, for transmitting first data frames to a second transmitting/receiving device and a receiving unit, connected to the antenna, for receiving second data frames from the second transmitting/receiving device, and c) a control unit, connected to the transmitting/receiving unit for controlling the transmitting/receiving unit, whereby the control unit is designed (c) to instruct the transmitting/receiving unit to transmit a first data frame and (c) to receive the second data frame from the transmitting/receiving unit. According to the invention, the transmitting/receiving unit has a controller, which is connected to the receiving unit and the control unit and is designed d) to evaluate a second data frame, received by the receiving unit within a predefined time interval after the transmission of the first data frame, and to determine whether the second data frame contains an acknowledgment message for the successful receipt of the first data frame by the second transmitting/receiving device, and e) not to relay the second data frame to the control unit, if it is determined that it contains the acknowledgment message.
