A computer implemented method and control device for regulating a gasoline engine is provided. A control device automatically records a characteristic of Lambda values and loads a test phase during an operation of the gasoline engine having activated transition compensation. It automatically extracts relevant load changes as a function of the determined characteristics, a load change describing a change from a first load to a second load that differs from the first load. Further, the control device automatically implements a classification of the extracted load changes as a function of specifiable classification criteria and assigns at least one Lambda value to each of the load changes. The control device automatically determines a quality value for each of extracted load changes as a function of a deviation of the at least one assigned Lambda value from a specifiable setpoint Lambda value. The control device also automatically weighs the determined quality values with respect to a classification of the assigned load changes. Still further, the control device automatically determines an overall quality as a function of the weighted quality values using at least one statistical method.

Method for the automatic determination of the quality of a transition compensation

A method and an arrangement for controlling a drive unit are suggested wherein a maximum permissible value of an output quantity is determined. This maximum permissible value is compared to the actual value and, when the permissible value is exceeded by the actual value, reaction measures are initiated. The maximum permissible value is filtered at least in one operating state in accordance with filter means including a filter and a dead zone member. Furthermore, the maximum permissible value is continuously reduced in dependence upon the approaching of at least one quantity to a limit value. This quantity represents an operating state.

Method and device for controlling a drive unit

The invention is directed to a method and an arrangement for controlling a drive unit of a vehicle wherein maximum permissible value is pregiven for monitoring purposes for the output quantity for the drive unit. In this value, requirement values of at least one consumer and/or one ancillary function are included. The inclusion only takes place when the at least one consumer and/or the ancillary function is actually active. To determine whether the consumer and/or ancillary function is active, two pieces of data as to the activation state are evaluated, which pieces of data are independent of each other.
