A turret includes a rotary bearing with an inner race, an outer race and a central axis of rotation. An internal tooth drive sprocket is fixed to the outer race of the bearing and centered on the central axis of rotation of the bearing. A turret plinth is fixed to the inner race of the bearing. A drive mechanism for rotating the turret plinth with respect to the internal tooth drive sprocket includes first and second sprocket assemblies each having a pair of upper and lower external tooth sprockets fixed to a shaft. The middle chain row of a triple roller chain engages the internal tooth drive sprocket. One of the outer chain rows engages the upper sprockets of the first and second sprocket assemblies and the other of the outer chain rows engages the lower sprockets of the first and second sprocket assemblies. Hand wheels connected to the shafts of the sprocket assemblies provide input motion to the drive mechanism.

Rotational assist drive mechanism

A protective shield may include an inboard shield assembly having an inboard shield and an inboard base. The inboard shield may include a forward plate fixed at an angle to a center plate and a rear plate fixed at an angle to the center plate. The center plate may include a window opening and a window fixed over the window opening. The protective shield may also include an outboard shield assembly having an outboard shield and an outboard base. The outboard shield may include a forward plate fixed at an angle to a center plate and a rear plate fixed at an angle to the center plate. The center plate may include a window opening and a window fixed over the window opening. A splice plate may connect portions of the inboard and outboard bases.

Protective ballistic shield

An armor kit may include a weapon shield having a front plate with a weapon barrel opening and at least one window opening; a rotating outboard shield including a front panel connected to a center panel and a rear panel connected to the center panel, each of the front, center, and rear panels including a window opening and a window disposed over the window opening; a rotating inboard shield having an upper portion that is solid and a lower portion with a viewing aperture, the rotating inboard shield being located generally opposite the rotating outboard shield, the rotating inboard shield and the rotating outboard shield being simultaneously rotatable and maintaining fixed positions relative to each other; and a stationary inboard shield located in an interior of a circle of rotation of the rotating inboard shield and the rotating outboard shield.

A protective folding shield for mounting to a rail of a vehicle may include a generally rectangular shield; a base stand fixed to a first side of the shield; a shim fixed to the first side of the shield and spaced apart from the base stand; a hinge fixed to the base stand and the shim; a base fixed to the base stand; a pair of latch bases fixed to the base adjacent a second side of the shield; a pair of latch uprights fixed to the second side of the shield wherein, in a substantially vertical position of the generally rectangular shield, the pair of latch uprights are removably fixed to respective ones of the latch bases; and a plurality of clamps fixed to the base wherein the rail is disposed between the clamps and the base.

Folding protective shields

A protective shield apparatus for a light armor vehicle having a turret includes a generally flat base plate mounted to the turret; an armor plate fixed to the base plate and including a front panel, a first side panel, a second side panel and a rear panel, the armor plate being canted vertically outward from the base plate; each of the first side panel, second side panel and rear panel including a ballistic glass window; a rear bracket connected at one end to a rear of the base plate and at another end to the turret; and a z-bracket connected at one end to the rear of the base plate and at another end the z-bracket bears against the turret.
