The invention relates to a method for the biometric identification or verification of people. According to said method, biometric characteristics are detected by means of an imaging device and the identification or verification is carried out by means of the detected image data, especially by comparison with known data records and/or original images. The invention also relates to a system for carrying out the method. The aim of the invention is provide one such method and system which significantly improve the anti-violation security in a simple and secure manner. To this end, the retina of the eye is used as a biometric object for detecting the biometric characteristics, and movements and/or the immobility of the eye are detected and taken into account.

Method and system for biometric identification or verification

Apparatuses and methods for improving aberration determination capabilities, providing corrective prescription verification, and allowing binocular vision correction in ophthalmic wavefront measuring devices. (1) Improved aberration determination capabilities are achieved through input beam modification which includes sensing an image in a wavefront emanating from an eye in response to an input beam with a sensor and then modifying the input beam with an adaptive optical device based on the sensed information. (2) Corrective prescription verification includes modifying an image with an adaptive optical element to produce a corrected image at the patients eye. (3) Binocular vision correction for a pair of eyes includes measuring the aberrations of one eye with a first ophthalmic wavefront measuring device and measuring the aberration produced by the other eye with a second ophthalmic wavefront measuring device substantially simultaneously.

Ophthalmic wavefront measuring devices

Apparatus and method for subjectively refining a corrective prescription based on feedback from a patient. Subjective refinement of a corrective prescription is accomplished by measuring aberrations of a wavefront emanating from the eye, computing a proposed corrective prescription based on the measured aberrations presenting to the patient an image reflecting the proposed corrective prescription, and varying the proposed corrective prescription based on feedback from the patient through an input device coupled to the processor to obtain the preferred corrective prescription.

Subjective refinement of wavefront measurements

A rack for the storage of CD cases or other rectilinear objects preferably has a support providing two lateral wall components that hold or support the CD cases at least in the area of one of their diagonal ends by means of opposite, lateral contacts, whereby the lateral wall components that face the CD cases are arranged at an angle of greater than 90.degree. relative to each other, thereby forming an imaginary trapezoidal area. Cross supports are arranged between the lateral wall components for the purpose of forming compartments for the CD cases, said cross supports preferably being arranged as rod-shaped elements that are positioned with slight clearance within the vicinity of the diagonal lines of the CD cases, which are inserted diagonally between the lateral wall components in the direction of the apex of the angle.
