A process for the preparation of a powder comprising one or more complexing agent salts of the general formula comprises atomizing an aqueous solution comprising the one or more complexing agent salts in the presence of a crystalline fine dust of the same complexing agent salts and a drying step, wherein the concentration of the one or more complexing agent salt is from 10 to 80% by weight, based on the total weight of the aqueous solution, with an upper limit for the average particle diameter of the crystalline fine dust which is lower by at least a factor of 2 than the lower limit of the average particle diameter of the powder obtained after the process, and the fraction of the crystalline fine dust is from 0.1 to 20% by weight, based on the weight of the powder obtained after the process.

Process for the preparation of a powder comprising one or more complexing agent salts

A process for the preparation of a spray-dried powder containing at least one glycine-N,N-diacetic acid compound of a formula MOOC&#x2014;CHR&#x2014;N(CHCOOM), where R is a C-alkyl and M is an alkali metal, the process including: preparing an aqueous solution containing the glycine-N,N-diacetic acid compound; concurrently passing the aqueous solution and air into a spray-drying apparatus; atomizing the aqueous solution by feeding the aqueous solution onto a rotating disk or by compressing the aqueous solution with a pump to a pressure of &#x2267;20 bar absolute, to obtain fine liquid droplets; and drying the droplets, to obtain the spray-dried powder, where a temperature gradient between the aqueous solution and the air is in a range from 70 to 350&#xb0; C., and a content of the glycine-N,N-diacetic acid compound in the aqueous solution is &#x2267;84% by weight, based on a total weight of the dry mass.

Process for the preparation of a spray powder comprising one or more glycine-N,N-diacetic acid derivatives and use of the spray powder for producing compression agglomerates

A process is proposed for the preparation of a powder comprising one or more derivatives of glycine-N,N-diacetic acid and/or one or more derivatives of glutamine-N,N-diacetic acid with a degree of crystallinity of &#x2267;30%, starting from an aqueous solution comprising the one or more derivatives of glycine-N,N-diacetic acid and/or the one or more derivatives of glutamine-N,N-diacetic acid in a concentration range from 20 to 60% by weight, based on the total weight of the aqueous solution, wherethe aqueous solution is concentrated in a first process step in an evaporator with rotating internals, which are arranged at a distance relative to the inside wall of the evaporator of &#x2266;1% of the diameter of the evaporator, to give a crystal slurry with a solids concentration in the range from 60 to 85% by weight, based on the total weight of the crystal slurry, and wherein a second process step the crystal slurry is left to ripen in a paste bunker and then in a thin-film contact dryer, and where the residence time in the paste bunker and in the thin-film contact dryer is in total &#x2267;15 minutes.
