An apparatus for storing and dispensing a medication, including: a cartridge including a cavity for storing a first orally-administered or injectable medication for a patient; and a module, including a specially-programmed computer. The specially-programmed computer: attached to the cartridge, and arranged to: automatically generate or modify a medication regimen, including designation of a measure for the first orally-administered or injectable medication, for the patient by using information regarding a second medication, different from the first medication, prescribed for the patient, or real time physiological data for the patient; and transmit instructions to a medication device to extract the first orally-administered or injectable medication from the cartridge and non-intravenously dispense, into a container, an amount of the first orally-administered or injectable medication equal to the designated measure or the modified designated measure.

Apparatus and method for non-intravenously administering a medication

A computer-based apparatus for dispensing a medication, including: at least one specially programmed computer; and, a medication device. The at least one specially programmed computer is arranged to calculate or modify, for a patient, a dosage for a first orally-administered or injectable medication and a constraint related to administration of the dosage by using a current point in time, a point in time at which a previous dosage of the first orally-administered or injectable medication was administered, information regarding a second medication prescribed for the patient, or real time physiological data for a patient. The medication device is arranged to: extract the first orally-administered or injectable medication from a medication storage element; and non-intravenously dispense the first orally-administered or injectable medication in accordance with the dosage and the constraint.

A method and system for providing a portable document services environment on a computer system is disclosed. An installation application may automatically be loaded from a portable device onto a computer system when the portable device is connected to the computer system. The computer system may automatically access a document service application on the portable device based on information contained in the installation application. One or more document service preferences may automatically be received from the portable device onto the computer system, and an electronic document may be selected. One or more document services may be performed for the selected electronic document based on the one or more document service preferences using the document service application.

A media feeding and cutting system is disclosed herein which comprises a media cutter including a cutting surface and a digital cutting device, a first feeder configured to automatically transport individual sheets of media from an in-feed receptacle toward the cutter, a positioner configured to position the medium on the cutting surface, a second feeder disposed adjacent to or connected to the cutting surface which is configured to automatically transport the cut medium from the cutter to an out-feed receptacle, and a processor configured to operate the cutter, first feeder, positioner and second feeder. Media feeding system for cutting dimensional documents and methods of making and using same

A method and system generate a workflow for the production of a three-dimensional document. A knowledge base contains production rules for several dimensional documents. The production rules relate to a plurality of jobs, i.e., units of work involved in the production of a dimensional document. The rules also identify human and/or mechanical resources required to complete each job. The system receives, from multiple service providers, capability information corresponding to each service provider's available resources. The capability information is associated with the production rules and stored in the knowledge base. When a user selects a dimensional document to be produced, the system selects appropriate production rules for the document, accesses the associated capability information, and automatically generates a workflow for the document. The system distributes various jobs in the workflow among at least two different service providers.

Method and system for generating a workflow to produce a dimensional document

A automated method, system and computer program for ordering print products by electronic mail. An e-mail request for business cards or other print products, such as postcards or calendars, is generated by a user of an e-mail system and sent to a management system including a management program which, in response, causes the system to selectively retrieve additional information associated with the e-mail request from one or more databases. The management system then prepares the business card order, or other print product order, using the retrieved information. The databases may be internet accessible directory services or other types of databases which the management system can look up using the originating e-mail address contained in the e-mail request in order to retrieve the additional information. The print product order can be prepared by importing the additional information, such as print product, shipping, billing and/or approval information, into one or more templates.

Method and system for ordering print products by electronic mail

Product descriptions (e.g., brochures) and processing instructions required to create a product (impose, print, fold, staple) can be abstracted into common vocabularies that link one to the other. A link from a product description to the processing instructions is made. A set of pre-defined templates containing specific processing instructions can be selected. Templates representing the processing instructions have a set of capabilities for the process network described. Templates representing the processing instructions can associate a set of well-defined queries regarding the product description, answers to which are used to complete process templates. A System of Classification when constructed can be used to classify a vocabulary to describe products and a separate vocabulary to describe required processing for the product(s). Once a System of Classification is established, templates for various product classes can be created. A heuristic engine can classify Product Descriptions into a product class in the System of Classification.

Transforming a product description into a process network and specifying product creation

A system and method generate and select an optimal job plan in response to a user's job request. The system may be implemented with an orchestrator that includes a user interface, a job plan generation manager, a job plan selector, and a job plan manager. The user interface communicates with a requesting user to receive a job request, user location and preference data, and provide a user with job plan status data. The job plan generator generates the permutations of job plans for implementing the requested job. The job plan selector computes the job plan scores for each of the generated job plans and selects the one that corresponds to the best score for some criterion. Data regarding the selected job plan may be provided to the user interface for communication to the user. The job plan manager supervises the service sites in accordance with the selected job plan and provides status information to the user interface for communication to the user.

Method and system for managing resources for multi-service jobs based on location

A procedure for customizing job default or set-up parameters. In particular, by entering a job default change mode, the operator can selectively alter the power up or the cycle out conditions in which the machine reverts to after the end of a job run, at start up or at preselected time outs. For example, if the machine generally defaults to a simplex to simplex, paper feed from tray 1, and 1 to 1 magnification mode, this condition can be changed to a duplex to duplex, tray 2, and reduction mode and thereafter the machine will power up to or default to that particular configuration. This is done by exiting to the change parameter condition, selecting the new parameters at the control console, storing the new parameters and exiting back to the normal run mode.
