The present invention relates to a novel class of polymers which can be used as dielectric material for the preparation of passivation layers in electronic devices. The polymers are prepared from polymerizable compounds having mesogenic groups and they provide excellent film forming capability and excellent mechanical properties and have a low dielectric constant and a low coefficient of thermal expansion (CTE). There is further provided a method for forming said polymers and an electronic device containing said polymers as dielectric material. Beyond that, the present invention relates to a manufacturing method for preparing a packaged microelectronic structure and to a microelectronic device comprising said packaged microelectronic structure formed by said manufacturing method.

Dielectric materials

The present invention relates to a polymerizable mixture which can be used to form a dielectric material for the preparation of passivation layers in electronic devices. The polymerizable mixture comprises a first monomer and a second monomer which may react to form a copolymer providing excellent film forming capability, excellent thermal properties and excellent mechanical properties. There is further provided a method for forming said copolymers and an electronic device containing said copolymers as dielectric material. Beyond that, the present invention relates to a manufacturing method for preparing a packaged microelectronic structure and to a microelectronic device comprising said packaged microelectronic structure formed by said manufacturing method.

The invention relates to electronic devices whose electronic properties can surprisingly be improved to a significant degree by inserting at least one crosslinkable polymeric buffer layer, preferably a cationically crosslinkable polymeric buffer layer, between the conductive doped polymer and the organic semiconductor layer. Particularly good properties are obtained with a buffer layer in which crosslinking is thermally induced, i.e. by raising the temperature to 50 to 250&#xb0; C. Alternatively, crosslinking can be radiation-induced by adding a photoacid. Moreover, such a buffer layer can be advantageously applied by means of printing techniques, especially inkjet printing, as the ideal temperature for the thermal treatment is independent of the glass transition temperature of the material. This avoids having to rely on material that has a low molecular weight, making it possible to apply the layer by means of printing techniques. The next layer (the organic semiconductor layer) can also be applied with the aid of different printing techniques, particularly inkjet printing, because the buffer layer is rendered insoluble by the crosslinking process, thus preventing the buffer layer from solubilizing thereafter.

The present invention relates to conjugated polymers which comprise both structural units of the formula (1) and also structural units of the formula (2). The materials according to the invention are more readily soluble, display improved air stability and display a smaller voltage increase during prolonged operation when used in a polymeric organic light-emitting diode (PLED) than polymers according to the prior art.

Chiral 3,4-dihydro-2H-pyran compounds

A process for printing or coating a substrate with a liquid-crystalline composition and at least one non-liquid-crystalline print or coating as a multilayer and a substrate produced by this process is described. The liquid-crystalline composition contains at least one compound having two polymerizable groups and at least one compound having only one polymerizable group, and optional further additives. The non-liquid-crystalline print or coating contains one or more IR- or UV-absorbent or fluorescent dye or pigment. The process and the printed substrate are useful in producing counterfeiting-proof marking of articles.
