An electrochemical gas sensor, for acid analyte gases, has an absorbent, which is suitable for absorbing a reaction product formed at the electrode. The electrochemical gas sensor further has a boron 5 compound, which is suitable for reacting chemically with the acid analyte gas. A process determines the concentrations of acid gases. A process uses an electrochemical gas sensor for determining the concentrations of acid gases.

Electrochemical gas sensor

A liquid electrolyte, for an electrochemical gas sensor for detecting NHor gas mixtures containing NH, contains at least one solvent, one conductive salt and/or one organic mediator. The conductive salt is an ionic liquid, an inorganic salt, an organic salt or a mixture thereof. The electrolyte preferably is comprised of (I) water, propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate or a mixture thereof as solvent; (ii) LiCl, KCl, tetrabutylammonium toluenesulphonate or 1-hexyl-3-methylimidazolium tris(pentafluoroethyl)trifluorophosphate as conductive salt; and (iii) tert-butylhydroquinone or anthraquinone-2-sulphonate as organic mediator.

Liquid electrolyte for an electrochemical gas sensor

An electrochemical gas sensor () has a housing (), a working electrode (), a counterelectrode () and a reference electrode (). The housing () has an electrolyte reservoir (), a gas inlet orifice () and at least one gas outlet orifice (). The electrolyte reservoir () is filled with a liquid electrolyte (). The gas sensor () has a counterelectrode carrier (). The counterelectrode () is suspended on the counterelectrode carrier () in such a way that the counterelectrode () is suspended in the electrolyte reservoir () and the electrolyte () flows around the counterelectrode () on all sides. Preferably, the electrolyte includes (I) a solvent, e.g. water, propylene carbonate, ethylene carbonate or mixtures thereof; (ii) a conductive salt, especially an ionic liquid; and/or (iii) an organic mediator, for example substituted quinones, anthraquinones, etc.

Electrochemical gas sensor, liquid electrolyte and use of a liquid electrolyte in an electrochemical gas sensor

An electrode () for an electrochemical gas sensor (), wherein the electrode has a gas-permeable membrane (). A graphene layer () is applied as an electrode material to the gas-permeable membrane (). Such an electrode () is prepared, for example, by applying a dispersion of graphene or graphene oxide in a volatile liquid to the gas-permeable membrane and evaporating the volatile liquid.

An electrochemical gas sensor () includes a housing () which has a number of electrodes (), i.e. at least one working electrode () and at least one counter electrode (), in addition to a liquid electrolyte (). At least one of the electrodes () and/or the housing () are at least partially formed of an absorption agent composition. A method of detecting acid gases employs the electrochemical gas sensor ().

A measuring electrode (), an auxiliary electrode (), a reference electrode (), a first generator electrode () and a second generator electrode () are in an electrolyte liquid () in the sensor housing (). A salt () (halide) of a halogen is dissolved in the electrolyte liquid (). The first generator electrode () and the second generator electrode () are connected to the voltage generator () to form a galvanic source. The galvanic source causes the salt () (halide) to react to form a halogen ('). A defined, largely stable reference voltage potential becomes established on the reference electrode ().

Electrochemical gas sensor system

A device () and a corresponding method are provided for determining and/or monitoring the respiration rate based on measurement with more than one sensor (). The device may be part of a monitor for determining and/or monitoring the respiration rate. The second and/or additional sensors are different form the first sensor and have a different manor of operation from the first sensor.

An electrochemical sensor is provided especially for gases. The electrochemical sensor has a mediator compound, which is both dissolved in an electrolyte () in a saturated form and is present as an excess solid () in the electrolyte ().

A planar electrochemical gas sensor is provided with at least one working electrode (), at least one counterelectrode (&#x2033;), at least one electrolyte-filled planar electrolyte carrier (), at least one planar housing upper part () and at least one planar housing lower part (). The electrodes (&#x2033;) are arranged such that they are in two-dimensional contact with the electrolyte carrier (). The housing upper part () and the housing lower part () are connected with one another such that the electrodes (&#x2033;) and the electrolyte carrier () are pressed against one another in such a way that they are secured against displacement. The housing upper part () and the housing lower part () are partially in direct two-dimensional contact with one another, and the connection of the housing upper part () and the housing lower part () in the area of the direct two-dimensional contact is present at least along a closed figure, which surrounds the electrodes (&#x2033;) and the electrolyte carrier ().

Electrochemical gas sensor and process for manufacturing same

An electrochemical sensor, especially for gases, is provided having a mediator compound based on transition metal salts of polybasic acids and/or transition metal salts of polyhydroxycarboxylic acids. The electrochemical sensor also contains a DLC, BDD or a precious metal thin-layer measuring electrode (). The electrochemical sensor may be used for determining SOand HS.
