A method controls a folding box machine having a plurality of machining stations and a plurality of control devices for controlling the quality of folding boxes. Each control device controls different quality features of each folding box, and each control device transmits the result of the control to a control unit. Target values are stored in the control unit in order to classify the control results into results which meet the quality standard and results which do not meet the quality standard, and a folding box is discharged depending on an evaluation. The method advantageously reduces waste.

A rotary embossing device, in particular for making Braille embossments, includes a drive shaft and at least one embossing tool disposed thereon. The embossing tool includes a roller body, a mounting system and a tool sleeve. The tool sleeve is mounted to the roller body by the mounting system. The mounting system includes at least one mounting ring disposed between the roller body and the tool sleeve. The at least one mounting ring is advantageously engaged with an adjustment device for rotating the at least one mounting ring to adjust the angular position of the tool sleeve. The mounting ring includes at least one elastomeric ring and the mounting system further includes an axially displaceable mounting cover for compressing the at least one elastomeric ring. Tool sleeves can therefore be easily and quickly mounted and adjusted.

Data are passed on to a control device that controls a distance between a male die and a female die and/or a position of the male die and the female die relative to a folding box on a basis of signals being supplied. A device for holding tools for processing flat, sheet-like material includes top and bottom tool holding devices which have respective top and bottom tool units that are driven by drive shafts through servomotors and are laterally displaceable by tool guide elements which are supported on cross members. The top and bottom cross members have a rectangular construction and are fitted perpendicularly in the device. An inspection module for flat, sheet-shaped material made of paper, board or the like, includes an inspection system disposed below a sheet transport plane. The sheets are transported by contacting upper and lower conveying elements of at least one upper and one lower conveying device, at least one of which is connected to a drive. The lower conveying device is divided and is formed of at least two conveying devices with a gap formed therebetween. The inspection system is disposed in the gap. A folder gluer or folding-box gluer having an inspection module is also provided.

A module for temporarily storing a succession of flat printed products includes a first carrier element train on a first transport element assigned to a first side wall, and a second carrier element train on a second transport element assigned to a second side wall located opposite the first side wall. The transport elements are movable relative to the side walls and correlated with one another, for a form-locking, at least partial support of a printing product loaded into the module. Support for an underside of the loaded printing product is provided by upper sides of first and second carrier elements. Third and fourth carrier elements have respective undersides making form-locking contact with the upper side of the loaded printed product for holding down the underside of the loaded printed product on the upper sides of the first and second carrier elements. A device for cross cutting a cardboard web in which, both the blade drums, a sheet transport conveyor accelerates the sheets and then the sheets are positioned to shingle the sheets on a further conveyor. The sheet transport conveyor has a rerouting roller at the outlet side of its upper pass and then extends downwardly into a sheet discharge gate through which defective sheets are effected.

An apparatus for stacking sheets has a conveyor for delivering a succession of the sheets in a longitudinal transport direction on a conveyor plane to an upstream side of a stacking station with longitudinal edges of the sheets extending parallel to the direction. A vertically displaceable platform in the station below the plane receives the sheets in a stack. A row of upper feed belts extending in the direction immediately above the conveyor and the stacking station has lower reaches engageable down against the sheets on the conveyor at the upstream side of the station. A feed-belt adjuster moves the upper feed belts transversely of the direction and sets the upper feed belts in any of a plurality of different transversely offset positions.

An apparatus for stacking sheets has a frame defining a stacking station, a conveyor for delivering the sheets continuously one after the other at a predetermined upper level in a transport direction to the station, a platform vertically displaceable in the stacking station between the upper level and the lower level, and a drive for displacing the platform vertically. Stops are provided on the frame at an intermediate level below the upper level, above the lower level, and slightly above a stack of maximum height supported on the platform with the platform at the lower level. A walkway is vertically displaceable on the frame immediately downstream of the stacking station between an upper position generally at the upper level and a lower position at the intermediate level. The platform is engageable underneath the walkway for raising the walkway from the intermediate level to the upper level on movement of the platform upward past the intermediate level to the upper level.

An apparatus for stacking sheets has a frame defining a stacking station, a conveyor for delivering the sheets continuously one after the other at a predetermined upper level in a transport direction to the station, and a platform vertically displaceable in the stacking station between the upper level and the lower level. The antidrop protector includes a vertically extending rack fixed on the frame, a lever pivoted on the platform adjacent the rack and having a pair of arms one of which is connected to a lift cable, a stop on the other of the lever arms engageable in the rack, and a spring braced between the platform and the lever. The cable is connected to a drive that tensions the cable, displaces the platform vertically, and rotates the lever in one rotational sense. The spring urges the lever in the opposite sense so that when the cable is detensioned the spring urges the stop into the rack and vertically arrests the platform.

A sheet-stacking apparatus has a conveyor including a plurality of parallel upper belts extending in a transport direction for delivering a succession of sheets one at a time to a stacking station and a plurality of blow tubes each having a main portion extending in the direction. The main portions are interleaved with the upper belts and are each formed with a plurality of downwardly open holes. Respective tubular rivet bodies set in the holes have heads bearing upward against the respective tube main portions and form downwardly open nozzles. Interiors of the tubes can be pressurized with air to project jets of air downward from the nozzles of the tube main portions.

An apparatus for stacking sheets on pallets has a conveyor belt having horizontally extending upper and lower reaches extending through a stacking station with the upper reach defining a horizontal support plane and extending in an outfeed direction. Two sets of deflectors spaced apart in the outfeed direction engage the upper reach to form therein respective upwardly open U-shaped loops below the plane. A lift has a pair of support beams extending transverse to the direction and jointly displaceable between a lower position received in the respective loops and below the plane and an upper position above the plane. A succession of sheets is fed to the station to form on a pallet supported on the beams in the upper position thereof a stack of the sheets. The lift can be raised and lowered to displace it from the upper position to the lower position to deposit on the belt the pallet and stack of sheets on the beams. A drive advances the belt in the outfeed direction with the beams in the lower position to convey the stack of sheets hitherto supported on the beams away from the lift in the outfeed direction.
