A sealing system for an internal-combustion engine is provided in which a lubricating-oil-carrying space particularly an oil catching space, is separated by wall elements from adjoining space sections, which wall elements have elastic sealing elements for sealing off the spaces. For the compensation of sealing gap tolerances, a sealing element is provided which has at least two sealing arms which come to rest on the space wall to be sealed off. Despite larger sealing gap tolerances, a secure oil-tight separation of spaces is thereby provided.

Sealing system for an internal-combustion engine

An internal combustion engine includes an oil collector housing positioned beneath a crankcase housing. A lubricating oil pump is positioned inside the oil collector housing, and the oil collector housing contains at least one oil-collecting chamber, into which an oil suction line leads from the lubricating oil pump, forcing the lubricating oil through the delivery side to consumers. A system for supplying lubricating oil to the drive shaft of at least one turbocharger is mounted on the internal combustion engine. The lubricating oil that is fed to the turbocharger is returned via oil lines to the oil-collecting chamber of the internal combustion engine. At least one ascending channel is integrated into the oil collector housing, via which the lubricating oil that has been suctioned off from the turbochargers is returned above the oil level in the oil collecting chamber. Lubricating oil being returned from the turbocharger will be returned above the oil level in the oil trap of the internal combustion engine, even when the vehicle is traveling downhill.

Internal combustion engine

An internal combustion engine includes a crankcase in which a crankshaft is held. An oil guide housing is positioned beneath the crankcase, and an oil pump with a drive sprocket for supplying lubricating oil is positioned in the crankcase. The oil pump supplies lubricating oil to consumers from an oil trap in the oil guide housing. The sprocket is encompassed by a cover, and resources are provided in the sprocket cover for scraping/separating lubricating oil that has been drawn along out of the oil trap in the direction of the crankcase by a chain that drives the sprocket. In this manner, the lubricating oil that is drawn and/or carried along by the drive chain is prevented from entering the crankcase and/or the cylinder head of the internal combustion engine.

An oil catching device and an oil pump for an internal-combustion engine are provided, having an oil catching housing which is arranged below a crankcase and which has at least two oil collecting spaces, in a first oil collecting space an oil pump being arranged which has two pump stages, at whose two suction stages one oil suction pipe, respectively, is connected. The first oil suction pipe reaches in the first oil collecting space in order to deliver the lubricating oil by way of the delivery side of the first pump stage to the consuming devices, and the second oil suction pipe connected with the second suction stage leads to a second oil collecting space. On its top side, the housing of the oil pump has an opening connected with the delivery side of the second pump stage, by way of which opening, the oil suctioned out of the second oil collecting space is delivered into the first oil collecting space. This achieves a defoaming of the suctioned-off lubricating oil.
