The invention relates to a method for modulating the resonant frequency of an optical resonator () in accordance with a periodic, not necessarily harmonic, modulation signal (U(t)). Fast modulation of an optical resonator is intended to be made possible in which the current resonant frequency follows the modulation signal (U(t)) as precisely as possible, and specifically at a fundamental frequency of the modulation signal in the kHz range. To do this, the invention proposes the following method steps:

Fast modulation of the resonant frequency of an optical resonator

Described is a system and method for detecting whether a biological event has occurred in a cellular sample, and then activating a fluidics system to fix the cell at the point in time with the event occurred. In one example, a sample preparation system includes a camera linked to a confocal microscope that is interrogating a cellular sample. Once a detectable event, such as a binding event, has occurred, the sample preparation system releases a fixative to fix the cell at the point in time when the event was detected.

Signal based sample preparation

The invention relates to a kinematic mount having a base part () and a bracket part (), which is positioned on the base part (), and which is tiltable relative thereto around at least one tilting axis. The invention provides that the mount has at least one pivot lever (), which is connected to the base part () by way of a first joint (), and which is connected to the bracket part () by way of a second joint (), which is spaced apart from the first joint () in a longitudinal direction of the pivot lever (). The base part (), the pivot lever (), and the bracket part () form a gear unit, which converts a movement of an actuator () impacting the pivot lever () into a tilting of the bracket part () relative to the base part ().

Kinematic mount

The invention relates to a laser light source for generating narrow-band laser radiation with high coherence, comprising a laser diode (), which forms an internal resonator (), and an external resonator () coupled to the internal resonator (). The object of the invention is to improve a laser source of the kind such that it generates narrow-band and coherent laser radiation with high output power and at the same time with high long-term stability. Furthermore, the laser light source is to be produced in a cost-effective manner. The object is achieved by the invention in that the laser diode () runs in an operating mode in which multimode laser radiation is generated, comprising a plurality of spectrally neighboring resonance modes () of the external resonator (). The resonance modes are selected by adapting the spectral characteristics of the external () and internal () resonators.

Laser light source

A device for generating light pulses includes a seed laser source for generating input light pulses. An optical pre-amplifier having variable gain receives the input light pulses from the seed laser source. An optical power amplifier receives the light pulses from the optical pre-amplifier and amplifies and compresses the received light pulses. The light pulses are compressed in the optical power amplifier in such a manner that the pulse duration of the output light pulses of the optical power amplifier is tunable via adjusting the gain of the optical pre-amplifier. Wavelength-tunable light pulses are obtained by supplying the output light pulses of the optical power amplifier to a highly non-linear optical fiber.

Device for generation of tunable light pulses

The invention relates to a device for the production of tuneable light impulses in a visible spectral range, comprising a laser system (LS) which emits femtosecond light impulses in the infrared spectral range, and an optical frequency converter (FC) for converting the wave lengths of the light impulses into the visible spectral range. According to the invention, the wave length of the light impulse emitted by the laser system can be tuned in order to provide said type of device which can be used as a light source for time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy. Said device also comprises an optical stretcher which enables the duration of the impulse of the frequency converted light impulse to be increased to at least 1 ps.
