The present disclosure provides compositions comprising a lyn kinase activator and TRPM8 agonist, and to methods of: reducing blood glucose levels, weight gain, or fat depot levels; treating metabolic syndrome, Syndrome X, obesity, prediabetes, type II diabetes, type I diabetes; treating hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, coronary heart disease, diabetic neuropathy, lipodystrophy, diabetic retinopathy, erectile dysfunction, kidney disease, dyslipidemia, dyslipoproteinemia, a peroxisome proliferator activated receptor-associated disorder, septicemia, a thrombotic disorder, or pancreatitis; inducing the beiging of adipocytes; and preventing pancreatic beta cell degeneration.

The present invention relates to methods of treating overweight or obesity, reducing fat, sugar, and food intake, and reducing body weight or body weight gain in a subject using geranium oil or orlistat mouthwash, or a combination of both.

Methods for treating obesity

A method is disclosed for making palatable methionine-restricted foods, to deliver a methionine-restricted diet to human or veterinary patients. A protein or a food product containing protein is partially oxidized, preferably with ozone, to oxidize nearly all of the methionine and cysteine. After oxidation, tryptophan and lysine are optionally added back since they tend to be oxidized also. Optionally, a small amount of methionine is also added back so that the final methionine is within a preferred range of about 0.85 to about 1.8 gram methionine per 100 gram total protein, preferably about 1.2 gram per 100 gram total protein.

The presently claimed and disclosed invention(s) provides a therapeutically effective composition and method of inhibiting nerve cell transmission. In a preferred embodiment of the presently claimed and disclosed invention(s), the treatment of neuropathic pain utilizing terpene compounds isolated from plant essential oils or manufactured synthetically is detailed. These compounds, such as geraniol and citronellol, as well as chemical analogs thereof, used in combination or individually, can be used alone or in a composition with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier in a suitable dosage form.

Composition and method for inhibition of nerve transmission

Compositions comprising terpene compounds for the treatment of negative sensory phenomena (NSP). Negative sensory phenomena is characterized by a decreased ability to sense light touch, pin prick, vibration, temperature, pain and/or reduced proprioception. The terpene compounds are preferably aromatic terpene compounds such as geraniol and citronellol and analogs thereof. The terpenes may also be used in combination. The terpenes are derived form plant essential oils or are manufactured synthetically.

Compositions comprising terpene compounds for treating negative sensory phenomena

An extract of Chinese blackberry () has been found to inhibit angiogenesis, and two active fractions isolated. Gallic acid was shown to be one of the active anti-angiogenic compounds by an in vitro human angiogenesis model. Aqueous extracts from other plants either known or found to have gallic acid were also found to have anti-angiogenic activity. Various derivatives of gallic acid were found to inhibit angiogenesis. The extract from Chinese blackberry also slowed the growth of a pancreatic tumor and of corneal neovascularization in rats. Extracts from pomegranate were shown to inhibit angiogenesis in fat tissue. Extracts fromspp, and other plants with gallic acid, and gallic acid and its derivatives will be useful for treating various diseases associated with neovascularization, including diabetic retinopathy, psoriasis, tumors, obesity, cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, etc.

A method and composition are disclosed for administering pyruvate in high doses to mammals, including humans. A potato chip having no added fat and process for preparation thereof, wherein a slice of undehydrated fresh potato having no added fat and no coating of globular protein and having a thickness of about 1 to about 3 millimeters is heated in a microwave oven at high intensity, with periodic heating separated by periodic cooling for a period of time sufficient to produce a product having essentially the same flavor, color and crispness as potato slices fried in deep fat. The resulting potato chip has substantially reduced calories as compared with potato chips fried in deep fat or oil, and has essentially the same low fat content as uncooked potatoes. Optionally, the slice may be coated with a non-globular protein coating prior to microwave heating. Such a coating may include salt, non-globular protein, flavorants, spices, and/or vitamin additives, as desired, but preferably does not contain any fat which would increase the fat and calorie content of the finished potato chip.
