A motor-vehicle door latch to avoid unnecessary sound emission, has its motor operated with pulse-width modulation so that, once a blockade time point is reached or prior thereto, the motor is energized with reduced power so that it generates a ramp characteristic running to a minimum. The torque and/or speed are thereby reduced along the ramp characteristic correspondingly.

Motor-vehicle door lock

A latch is mounted between the inside and outside of a motor-vehicle door provided with a plurality of actuating elements and respective links extending from the elements and each having a respective movable part. The latch has latching and locking mechanism, a closed housing enclosing the mechanism and formed with a respective openings receiving free ends of the links, and seals in the openings engaged hermetically around the link free ends. The free ends are connected inside the housing to the mechanism. The housing includes a pair of housing parts that are hermetically joined to each other and the mechanism includes locking and latching elements received in the respective parts. The holes are all formed in one of the parts.

Motor-vehicle door latch with sealed housing

A door latch for a motor-vehicle central-latch system has a housing, a locking element displaceable on the housing between a door-bolt-holding position and a door-bolt-releasing position, and a pawl displaceable on the housing between a retaining position holding the locking element in its bolt-holding position and a freeing position allowing the locking element to assume its bolt-releasing position. A release lever pivotal on the housing into an actuated position can put the paws into the freeing position. A outside operating lever is pivotal on the housing between actuated and unactuated positions and a main locking lever is pivotal on the housing by an electric motor between locked and unlocked positions. A link engageable between the main locking lever, the outside operating lever, and the release lever serves for, when the main locking lever is in the unlocked position and the outside operating lever is in its unactuated position, coupling the outside operating lever to the release lever to displace same into its freeing position on movement of the outside operating lever into its actuated position. When the main locking lever is in the locked position and the outside operating lever is in its actuated position, the link displaces the release lever into its freeing position on movement of the main locking lever into its unlocked position. Normally the link, when the main locking lever holds in the locked position, decouples the outside locking lever from the release lever.

Motor-vehicle latch system with power open

A motor vehicle has a body provided with at least one generally horizontal rail having a bent end portion and along which a sliding door is displaceable between a closed position in against the body and an open position out from the body. A sliding-door assembly has a door drive on the body including a flexible toothed belt extending along the rail and having an end and a link assembly fixed to the door, riding along the rail, connected to the belt end, and engaged in the bent end portion of the rail in the closed position of the door. A guide extends along the rail and laterally confines the belt so an actuator on the body can displacing the belt in one sense and thereby tension the belt and move the door in one direction and displace the belt in the opposite sense and thereby longitudinally compress the belt and move the door in the opposite direction. A door latch on the door and a keeper on the body communicating therewith secure the door tightly to the body in the closed position of the door and a closed position of the latch and release the door to ride along the rail in an open position of the latch. A controller connected between the door latch and the door actuator operates the actuator to move the door into the respective open position on displacement of the latch into the respective open position.

Motor-vehicle sliding-door system

A motor-vehicle door latch has a housing and a locking mechanism in the housing having an inside locking lever displaceable between a locked position in which the latch is locked and an unlocked position in which the latch is unlocked. An output element rotatable about an axis on the housing is formed with a spiral main groove having a pair of ends and with a transverse connecting groove extending between the ends. A pin mounted directly on the locking lever rides directly in the spiral groove. A reversible electric motor can rotate the output element so that the pin travels between the ends of the spiral groove for displacing the locking lever into the locked position when the pin engages one of the groove ends and for displacing the locking lever into the unlocked position when the pin engages the other of the groove ends. A locking element connected to the inside locking lever displaces same manually between its positions with movement of the pin along the connecting groove between the spiral groove ends.

Power-actuated motor-vehicle door latch

A motor vehicle has a body, a door movable on the body between a closed position and an open position, an electric power source mounted in the body, and a latch having interengageable parts on the vehicle body and on the door engageable in a latched position to retain the door in the closed position, and an electrical actuator energizable to put the latch in an unlatched position. A drive on the body connected to the door is energizable from the source for moving the door between the open and closed positions and a battery is provided in the door separate from the body-mounted power source. An electronic controller in the door powered by the battery is connected to the latch actuator for operating same to unlatch the door and to a transmitter for transmitting a signal indicating the position of the door and of the latch. Another electronic controller in the body includes a receiver for receiving the signal from the transmitter in the door is connected to the drive and to the body power source for operating the drive in accordance with the signal received by the body receiver.

A door is aligned in an opening of a motor-vehicle in which is fixed a latch by first mounting in the door opening a keeper having a screw adjuster effective for horizontally displacing the keeper on the vehicle transverse to a normal vehicle travel direction, a bolt engageable with the latch and orbitable about a horizontal axis transverse to the normal vehicle travel direction through an arc having an outer pull-in section and an inner adjustment section, a drive including a motor for orbiting the bolt through its arc, and a controller connected to the motor for operating same. Then the door is carefully closed to engage the latch with the bolt and the door is pulled into the opening by orbiting the bolt by its motor through the outer pull-in section of its arc. The position of the door in the door opening is then first adjusted by orbiting the bolt by its motor through at least a part of the inner adjustment section of its arc until the door is in a predetermined centered position in the opening and the position of the bolt is then recorded in the controller so that thereafter the bolt is returned to this position each time the door is closed. Finally the position of the door is adjusted in the door opening by the screw adjuster.

A central control system for the door locks of a motor vehicle has a central unit connected to the door locks via a control line and the door locks each have a first electrically-operable actuator and a second electrically-operable actuator together enabling the 'operate', 'locked and unlocked', 'antitheft mode on and off' and 'child-safety mode on and off' operations. The door locks can be mechanically identical and can have a keeper pawl controlled both by the first actuator and an interior lever which is effective only when the second operator has displaced a lever from its ineffective position into an effective position.

A motor-vehicle door latch has a door-mounted fork displaceable between an open and a fully latched position and through an intermediate semilatched position and a body-mounted door bolt engageable with the fork and retainable thereby only in the semilatched and fully latched positions. A door-mounted pawl can pivot about a pawl axis between a holding position engaging and retaining the fork in the fully latched and semilatched positions and a freeing position permitting the fork to move freely between its positions. A controller is connected to a servomotor in turn coupled to the door bolt for displacing same between an outer and an inner position so that, when the bolt is engaged with the fork in the fully latched position, movement of the bolt into the inner position pulls a door carrying the latch tightly closed. A switch lever can pivot about the pawl axis. Interengaging formations on the switch lever, on the pawl, and on the fork displace the switch lever into a first position with the fork in the semilatched and open positions and with the pawl in the open position and displace the switch into a second position with the fork in the fully latched position. A switch between the control means and the switch lever prevents operation of the servomotor except in the second position of the switch lever.

A motor-vehicle door latch having an element settable in locked, unlocked, and open positions, has an actuating assembly having a pivot defining a pivot axis remote from the latch. An inside locking lever mounted on the pivot has an outer end to one side of the pivot and an inner end to the opposite side of the pivot and a bowden cable is connected between the outer end and the latch element and connects the latch element with the inside lever for joint pivoting between the locked, unlocked, and open positions. An inside actuating lever is mounted on the pivot coaxial with the locking lever. A coupling between the levers is displaceable between a coupling position for displacing the locking lever and bowden cable and thereby setting the element in the open position on pivoting of the actuating lever and a decoupling position for pivoting of the actuating lever without pivoting of the locking lever.
