A wafer connector is disclosed in which a plurality of twin-axial wires are terminated to the tails of ground and signal terminals of the connector. Each twin-axial wire includes a pair of signal wires enclosed in a conductive sheath. A conductive grounding clamp is provided that contacts the sheaths of the twin-axial wires and holds them together as a unit to facilitate the attachment of the wires to the connector terminal tails. The clamp has two opposing halves that cooperatively define openings which receive the twin-axial wires and flat, interconnecting portions extending between the openings that provide contact points where the grounding clamp may be attached to the connector terminal tails.

An improved termination assembly for a multi-wire cable is disclosed. The assembly includes a carrier member that includes wire nest portions spaced along a base portion. The wire nest portions are hollow enclosures that contact the exterior grounding shields of the cable wires so as to electrically interconnect all of the cable wires together through a common ground.

A high power electrical connector is provided for transmitting electrical signals from a pair of cables, such as high current capable cables, to an associated member, such as a dash panel. The high power electrical connector includes an insulative housing and a pair of contact path assemblies therethrough for transmission of the electrical signals. The cables can be rotated relative to the housing and rotated relative to each other via the contact path assemblies. Ground path assemblies are also provided for grounding the cables. The cables can each be rotatable relative to a portion of the respective ground path assembly.

High power electrical connector

The present disclosure relates to electrical connectors and to header systems having such connectors. In one embodiment an electrical connector also known as a header can have two aligning and locating pegs for cooperating with alignment holes of the housing of a control module to accurately and precisely position header in a respective bay of the control module. The pegs of each header can have either unique cross-sectional shapes which can be reflected in respective alignment holes of housing, or can be uniquely positioned on the header which positioning is matched on the holes of the housing to permit each header to be accurately and precisely seated along the x-axis and the y-axis in only one bay and in only a desired front back orientation, or both. In this fashion, the terminals of the header, including its pins, are in position to engage openings in a PCB or other connector. The pegs can also include ribs to capture the housing and prevent vertical or z-axis movement of the header relative to the housing. Retaining the desired vertical position can result in precise placement of the terminals along the z-axis for engagement with respective PCB. Each header can include a trough system to receive overflow of adhesive used to secure the header to the housing.

An electrical connector assembly includes a support structure, with a molded plastic connector housing overmolded about an interface area between the support structure and the connector housing. A compliant layer is deposited between the support structure and the overmolded connector housing over the interface area to fill and seal the interface area when the molded plastic housing cures.

Sealed electrical connector assembly and method of fabricating same

An electrical connector assembly includes a dielectric housing having a mating end, a terminating end and a plurality of terminal-receiving passages extending in a direction between the ends. A termination subassembly is fixed to the terminating end of the housing. The termination subassembly includes a circuit board and a plurality of terminal pins extending through the circuit board and into the terminal-receiving passages in the housing. A plastic pin holder is overmolded about portions of the terminal pins at the terminating end of the housing and about at least a portion of the circuit board.

Electrical connector assembly

An electrical connector is provided for a flat circuit which has at least one pin-receiving hole therein and a conductor on a side thereof about the hole. A dielectric circuit support member supports the flat circuit and has a pin-receiving hole in registry with the hole in the flat circuit. A conductive terminal includes a pin portion insertable through the hole in the flat circuit and into the hole in the support member. A wing portion projects laterally of the terminal for engaging the conductor on the flat circuit. The hole in the support member is sized relative to the pin portion of the terminal to establish an interference fit therebetween and to maintain the wing portion in compressive engagement with the conductor of the flat circuit.

An interface system is provided for adhering a pair of electrical connector components together. A first connector component has a first interface surface with a first set of elongated, mutually spaced adhesive flow fins. A second connector component has a second interface surface with a second set of elongated adhesive flow fins for disposition between the first set of adhesive flow fins. The flow fins of at least one of the first or second sets thereof are tapered from enlarged ends of the fins to reduced ends thereof for forcing liquid adhesive material between the interface surfaces longitudinally of the fins from the enlarged ends thereof toward the reduced ends thereof automatically when the interface surfaces are brought together.

An electrical connector assembly includes a housing assembly having a bottom support structure with a top inside face and a top support structure with a bottom inside face. A first flat circuit is mounted to the top inside face of the bottom support structure and has a hole therethrough. A second flat circuit is mounted to the bottom inside face of the top support structure. At least one conductive terminal extends into the bottom support structure and includes a laterally projecting wing portion for engaging an appropriate conductor on the first flat circuit. A head portion of the terminal engages an appropriate conductor on the second flat circuit. A spring portion of the terminal extends between the wing portion and the head portion to bias the wing portion and head portion in opposite directions into engagement with the respective conductors of the first and second flat circuits.
