Secondary alkylammonium 3-secondary alkylaminoalkanoates are prepared by reacting a secondary alkyl primary amine and an alkenoic acid in the presence of a primary or secondary alcohol.

Method of preparing secondary alkylammonium 3-secondary

Novel secondary alkylammonium 3-secondary alkylaminoalkanoates are provided along with a method for preparing same by reacting a secondary alkyl primary amine and an alkenoic acid in the presence of an alcohol. The compounds have utility as freeze-thaw additives for paints, corrosion inhibitors, pigment grinding aids and paraffin inhibitors.

Method of preparing a tetraalkyl-tetraoxaundecane by the reaction of a C.sub.10 - C.sub.16 aliphatic ketone with pentaerythritol in the presence of an active acid catalyst in an inert solvent at 120.degree.-150.degree.C. for 8 to 70 hours.
