A one-way check valve in an IV system set is provided with structural features to capture contaminant particles and inhibit the particles from adversely impacting the performance of the check valve. A screen can be provided upstream of the valve seat and the valve may be provided with flow channels for accumulating the particles. Modifications of the valve seat provide open volumes for accumulating contaminants.

A seam plate implement assembly comprises a substrate having a longitudinal extent and upon which a plurality of seam plates are fixedly disposed at predetermined uniformly spaced longitudinal positions which correspond to the transverse spacing defined between the crest portions of an underlying corrugated roof decking substructure. In this manner, when a particular one of the membrane plates is fixedly secured to one of the crest portions of the underlying corrugated roof decking substructure by suitable threaded fasteners, the remaining membrane plates will be automatically properly aligned with the other crest portions of the underlying corrugated roof decking substructure so as to automatically ensure proper and secure fixation of the seam plates upon the roof decking assembly. When the seam plate or membrane plate implement assembly is used with a non-corrugated roof decking substructure, the seam plates are disposed at predeterminedly spaced locations upon the substrate so as to provide the environmental membranes with sufficient uplifting force resistance. The substrate may have a C-shaped or V-shaped cross-sectional configuration for enveloping each one of the seam plates, or may comprise a mesh member through which prong members of the seam plates are extended and folded so as to secure the seam plates upon the substrate.

For use in a fastener driving tool, a fastener assembly includes a plurality of fasteners arranged in a row, each fastener including a head and an elongated shank and a carrier including a plurality of connected carrier sleeves for receiving and surrounding a portion of an associated fastener. Each of the carrier sleeves includes an axis, an upper breakable portion, a middle portion, a lower breakable portion, a pedestal associated with the lower breakable portion, the pedestal axially extending away from the lower breakable collar, and a pair of notches in the lower breakable portion, the pair of notches opening toward the head of the associated fastener.

A centrifugal operated switch particularly suitable for operating a circuit for starter windings of a motor. A spindle is connected to and rotated by the motor shaft. Swing arms connected to the spindle move upwardly and outwardly in response to rotational speed of the spindle. A plunger is movable in the spindle, and moves together with movement of the swing arms. The plunger is operationally connected to a contactor having one end electrically connected to a first terminal, and a second end alternatively connected to and disconnected from a second terminal. Movement of the plunger causes movement of the contactor.

An injection molded work surface for use in conjunction with a portable clothes washer includes a decorative laminate top surface and an underlying injection molded substrate. The substrate is provided with a connecting structure facilitating convenient attachment to the upper surface of the clothes washer.

The present invention comprises a urine collection bag with a tilt bag indicator on the front wall thereof. The indicator comprises a clear patch or housing disposed to the side of the input conduit of the containment bag. An orifice is disposed through the front wall to provide communication between the chamber of the collection bag and the chamber defined by the transparent patch and the front wall of the bag. If the bag is tilted, urine will escape the collection bag chamber and go into the indicator chamber, and be trapped there. This will alert appropriate medical personnel that a reflux of urine up the input conduit, thus allowing whatever corrective action be taken, as necessary.

A urine meter comprising, a container having a cavity for collection of urine, and a drainage tube for draining urine from a patient. The urine meter has a receptacle having a chamber, with the drainage tube communicating with an upper portion of the receptacle for passage of urine into the chamber. The urine meter has a conduit of flexible material communicating between an upper portion of the receptacle and an upper portion of the container, with the conduit having a curve from the container to the receptacle, an outer corrugated wall, and an inner smooth wall. The receptacle is releasably supported on a front side of the container.

A device for applying compressive pressures against a patient's limb from a source of pressurized fluid comprising, an elongated pressure sleeve for enclosing a length of the patient's limb. The sleeve has a plurality of sets of adjoining laterally extending fluid pressure chambers, with the sets being progressively arranged longitudinally along the sleeve from a lower portion of the limb to an upper portion of the limb proximal the patient's heart relative to the lower portion. The sleeve has an opening communicating between a lower and an upper chamber in each of the sets. The device has a plurality of conduits separately communicating with the lower chambers in each of the sets, and a device for intermittently inflating the chambers through the conduits and for intermittently deflating the chambers.

A urine receptacle comprising, a container having a chamber for collection of urine, and a pocket on an outer surface of the container, with the pocket having an open end. The receptacle has a tubular section having an inner end attached to a lower portion of the container and communicating with said chamber, and an outer end. The receptacle has an elongated projection extending from the container in the pocket and being removably receivable in a lumen of the tubular section in the outer end in a storage position of the tubular section in the pocket. The projection has a device for contacting an inner surface of the tubular section and for retaining an antimicrobial agent.

A valved vent for a liquid drainage system comprising, a receptacle having a chamber to receive liquid, and a filter pervious to air and substantially impervious to the passage of bacteria, with the filter communicating with the atmosphere. The vent has a valve communicating between an upper portion of the chamber and the filter. The valve may be selectively opened to permit passage of air between the atmosphere and the chamber through the filter, and may be selectively closed to prevent passage of liquid from the chamber against the filter.

A urine receptacle comprising, a container having a chamber for collection of urine, and a tubular section having an inner end attached to a lower portion of the container and communicating with the chamber, and an outer end. The receptacle has a member for contacting a surface of the outer end of the tubular section and for retaining an antimicrobial agent.

A scrub sponge comprising, a packet having a rupturable wall and a closed chamber containing a liquid scrub agent, and a cover of foam material having a cavity to receive the packet. The sponge has a puncture member intermediate the cover and the rupturable wall, with the puncture member having a projection facing toward the puncturable wall such that the projection pierces the puncturable wall when the puncture member is pressed toward the packet to release the scrub agent into the cover.

A device for applying compressive pressures against a patient's limb from a source of pressurized fluid. The device has an elongated pressure sleeve for enclosing a length of the patient's limb, with the sleeve having a plurality of laterally extending separate fluid pressure chambers progressively arranged longitudinally along the sleeve from a lower portion of the limb to an upper portion of the limb proximal the patient's heart relative to the lower portion. The device has a plurality of conduits and connecting devices for connecting the conduits to a plurality of the chambers. The device also varies the effective lumen size associated with a plurality of the connecting members and conduits to vary the pressure rise times in the chambers.

A protective headgear comprising a helmet and a pad assembly. The pad assembly comprises a pad of foam material having an integral densified layer defining front and side surfaces of the pad assembly and forming a tear-resistant cover for the pad. The pad assembly has a relatively rigid attachment plate bonded to the pad adjacent a back surface of the pad assembly for securing the pad assembly to the helmet.
