In a pointer-type instrument ( ) having a pointer with a pointer shaft ( ) that deflects a pointer vane ( ), power is supplied to a light source ( ), which is connected to the pointer for rotation in common, by a flexible, spiral film ( ) provided with conductor tracks ( ). For this purpose, the pointer shaft ( ) has an enlargement ( ), which supports the film ( ) and secures it against sliding off axially. As a result, the film ( ) can be made particularly thin, thereby making it possible to reduce the driving torque required to deflect the pointer shaft ( ).

Pointer instrument

In a pointer instrument ( ) having a pointer shaft ( ) that deflects a pointer flag ( ), the pointer flag ( ) can be illuminated by means of a light source ( ). For this purpose, the light source ( ) is formed, for example, as a light-emitting polymer ( ), which is applied between the pointer flag ( ), which is formed at the same time as an electrode, and a further, transparent electrode ( ), and emits light of any desired coloration under appropriate electrical excitation. Depending on the code, series resistors (,) are combined and thus compensate for the fluctuations in light intensity which are unavoidable in light-emitting diode manufacture. A pointer instrument (,) has two pointer flags (,) which can pivot in a common plane about a common axis (,). For this purpose, the pointer flags (,) can each be deflected independently of each other in the region of a separate sector of a circle by a pointer drive (,&prime;), by of a mechanism (,&prime;). By this means, the pointer instrument (,) has a compact overall size and, at the same time, is easy to read.
