A system described herein may provide a technique for allocation and/or preemption of radio access network ('RAN') resources in a wireless network based on Quality of Service (“QoS”)-related metrics associated with User Equipment (“UEs”) that are connected to, and/or are requesting connection to, a RAN. QoS-related metrics may include a network slice, a QoS Flow Identifier (“QFI”), other suitable metrics. A Slice-Based Priority (“SBP”) determine one or more priority (e.g., SBP) values for UEs connected to the one or more RANs, and/or for UEs requesting connection to such RANs. In addition to QoS-related metrics priority values may be determined based on RAN-related metrics, such as Allocation and Retention Priority (“ARP”) values associated with a UE. RANs may accordingly be able to allocate resources, accept or deny connection requests, and/or perform preemption based at least partly on slice-related QoS metrics, thus preserving end-to-end QoS parameters.

Systems and methods for radio access network-level allocation and retention priority based on network slicing

A device may receive information from a unified database, wherein the information includes a Service Profile Identifier (SPID); select a Quality-of-Service (QoS)-related identifier (ID) at least based on the SPID; and either map a radio bearer to a flow associated with a User Equipment device (UE) or configure a component to map the radio bearer to the flow. After mapping the radio bearer to the flow, the device may send data from the flow to the UE based on the QoS related ID. After configuring the component, the device may forward the SPID to a second component for sending the data from the flow to the UE based on the QoS-related ID.

Systems and methods for multi-dimensional differentiation of radio access networks

An improved discontinuous reception (DRX) mechanism is disclosed. In one embodiment, a method is disclosed comprising receiving a request to attach to a cellular network from user equipment (UE). The method then identifies a group identifier associated with the UE and determines a DRX parameter based on the group identifier. Finally, the method transmits the DRX parameter to the UE.

Differentiated discontinuous reception based on network services

A method for paging priority and wireless access which includes receiving, at a base station and from a core network, a paging message associated with a priority connection from a first user equipment device (UE) having an elevated priority status, to a second UE having a non-elevated priority status. The method further includes determining, at the base station, that non-elevated priority wireless access channels are congested, detecting, at the base station, a priority indicator within the received paging message in response to determining that the non-elevated priority wireless access channels are congested. The method further includes caching, at the base station, an identifier of the second UE in response to detecting the priority indicator in the received paging message, and establishing a wireless connection between the first UE and the second UE upon verifying that the identifier of the second UE has been cached.

Paging priority and wireless access for non-high priority access users during wireless network congestion

A method, a device, and a non-transitory storage medium are described in which an application-based access control service is provided. The service assigns network slice priority values to network slices that are associated with an application or a portion of an application pertaining to end devices. The service calculates a network slice priority value to manage access barring based on a congestion level, and transmits the network slice priority value to end devices. End devices may determine whether access is permitted or not based on the network slice priority value and the assigned network slice priority values associated with the network slices. The service further provides access barring information to network devices of an access network that allows the network devices to reject connection requests and release existing connections. The access barring information may include a network slice priority value and/or network slice identifiers.

Method and system for application-based access control using network slicing

Disclosed are systems and methods for providing a differentiated neighbor list that can be individually generated for a specific service (e.g., per service) based on network service information, which can include, but is not limited to, a user equipment (UE) group identifier (ID), network slicing and/or quality of service (QoS) flow, and the like. Neighbors within the differentiated list can be characterized based on, but not limited to, service types, distance to devices, transport costs, service locations, and the like, or some combination thereof. The disclosed framework can generate and dynamically update a differentiated neighbor list for specific types of services so that optimal neighbor selection is performed for the type of service a UE is operating within to ensure that a network connection is maintained at a threshold satisfying QoS.

The request includes first bearer information regarding a bearer and first network slice information regarding a network slice of the network. The device may generate a first priority value, associated with the request, based on the first bearer information and the first network slice information. The device may obtain second bearer information regarding active bearers associated with existing communication sessions and second network slice information regarding one or more network slices, of the network, associated with the active bearers. The device may generate second priority values associated with the active bearers based on the second bearer information and the second network slice information. The device may compare the first priority value and the second priority values. The device may preempt one or more of the active bearers based on the comparison.

Systems and methods for preempting bearers based on bearer information and network slice information

A system described herein may provide for the use of artificial intelligence/machine learning ('AI/ML') techniques to generate models for various locations or regions (e.g., sectors) associated with one or more radio access networks ('RANs') of a wireless network. The system may further use AI/ML techniques to generate interference models to reflect types and/or amounts of radio frequency (&#x201c;RF&#x201d;) interference measured within the RAN. The system may further determine, based on received RF metrics for a given sector, a particular interference model associated with the sector. Based on a sector model associated with the sector and the determined interference model, one or more actions may be determined in order to remediate any potential interference associated with the sector or surrounding sectors.

Systems and methods for interference management in a radio access network

A system described herein may provide a technique for maintaining and transferring context information for a Dual Connectivity ('DC')-capable User Equipment ('UE') and a secondary Next Generation Node B (&#x201c;gNB&#x201d;) in situations where the UE is connected to a primary gNB and the secondary gNB and is handed over to an evolved Node B (&#x201c;eNB&#x201d;). The context information may be provided to the eNB without releasing resources or tearing down bearers at the secondary gNB, such that the UE may seamlessly continue communicating with the secondary gNB while a primary connection associated with the UE is handed over from the primary gNB to the eNB.

Systems and methods for handover of dual connectivity user equipment

A system and method provide for receiving an indication that a user device has been inactive; accessing a configuration table; identifying, based on the configuration table, a number of user devices that can be in an RRC inactive state; determining a current number of user devices that are in the RRC inactive state; transitioning the user device to the RRC inactive state when the current number of user devices is less than the threshold number of user devices; determining a priority associated with the user device when the current number equals the threshold number; and transitioning the user device to the RRC inactive state or an RRC idle state based on the priority of the user device.
