A rod bender for bending a surgical rod includes first and second arms. The first arm includes first and second engaging portions. The second arm includes third and fourth engaging portions. The rod bender is reconfigurable between a first configuration in which the second and fourth engaging portions of the respective first and second arms engage the surgical rod such that spreading of the first and third engaging portions of the respective first and second arms bends the surgical rod in a first orientation and a second configuration in which the first engaging portion of the first arm and the fourth engaging portion of the second arm engage the surgical rod such that spreading of the second engaging portion of the first arm and the third engaging portion of the second arm bends the surgical rod in a second orientation opposite to the first orientation.

An instrument for bending a surgical rod includes first and second arm assemblies. The first arm assembly includes first and second arms having respective first and second receiving portions configured to receive the surgical rod therein. The second arm assembly includes third and fourth arms having respective third and fourth receiving portions configured to receive the surgical rod therein. The present invention provides an anchor assembly for attaching a first structure to a second structure. The anchor assembly has a body having a first face and a second face. The first face is transverse to the second face and has an elongate slot. The second face has a through hole. The body is fabricated from a material that fails at a temperature in excess of 1,000&#xb0; F. A fastening member is positioned in the elongate slot for connecting the first face to the first structure and for sliding engagement with the elongate slot in response to relative movement of the first structure and the second structure.

Systems and methods for pedicle screw implantation using flexible drill bit

This disclosure describes a variety of transitional or terminal components that may be implanted as part of a spinal fixation construct to decrease the potential for subsequent development of junctional disease. The fixation construct may extend any number of levels from a single level construct to a long construct spanning multiple spinal levels and multiple spinal regions from the lumbosacral to cervical regions, and with any variety of combination of anchors, rods, and connectors. Terminal and/or transitional components may be utilized at the caudal and or cephalad ends of the fixation construct to reduce stresses endured by the construct adjacent pathology and prevent or reduce incidence and degree of junctional disease.

Spinal correction implant system and method

A pedicle screw locking system includes a reduction tube and a locking driver. The reduction tube includes an inner shaft, a pair of grips, a reduction sleeve, and a rotatable tube. The inner shaft has a threaded end and reduction arms distally extending from the threaded end. Each grip of the pair of grips has a finger configured to engage the receiver of a pedicle screw. The reduction sleeve and the rotatable tube are disposed over and coaxially aligned with the inner shaft. The rotatable tube is coupled to the reduction sleeve. The rotatable tube moves the reduction sleeve relative to the reduction arms. The locking driver includes a threaded portion and a blunt tip. The threaded portion is configured to thread into threads in the receiver of the pedicle screw until the blunt tip locks the receiver of the pedicle screw.

System for corrective spinal surgery and method of use

A spinal correction system includes at least one longitudinal element extending between a first portion and a second portion. At least one fixation element includes a first end and a second end that is configured for penetrating tissue. A coupling member is configured for disposal about the at least one longitudinal element. The coupling member includes a first part and a second part being movable relative to the first part between a first orientation and a second orientation such that an inner surface of the parts are fixed with the at least one longitudinal element. The parts include an outer surface such that in the second orientation, the coupling member is configured for a snap fit engagement with the at least one fixation element such that the parts are fixed with the first end.
