An axial-split pin tumbler-like lock mechanism for a pop-out lock of the type including a lock cylinder, a forwardly disposed operating spindle part rotatable in the cylinder, a rearwardly disposed sleeve held stationary in the cylinder and adjoining the operating spindle part defining a transverse interfacial plane, the operating spindle part including a shaft extending axially through the stationary sleeve, key operated spring pressed axially movable split-pin tumblers carried in bores in the operating spindle part and the stationary sleeve part and movable into positions ultimately serving to secure the operating spindle part and the stationary sleeve part against relative rotation and to free the operating sleeve part for rotation to operate the lock mechanism with the insertion of the proper key, includes a bolt holder removeably attachable with the stationary sleeve part and disposed rearwardly thereof, the holder having a bolt race extending transversely therein, and a lock bolt mounted in the race for transverse sliding movement therein between unlocking and locking positions, the bolt having means cooperating with coupling means on the distal end of the shaft for moving the bolt between such positions in response to rotation of the spindle operating part, the bolt holder being provided with means for affixedly securing by pins to the lock cylinder with the cooperating attachment between the bolt holder and stationary sleeve part maintaining the stationary sleeve fixed when assembled in the lock cylinder.

Axial split-pin tumbler-type lock mechanism for a pop-out lock

A retaining pin extends inwardly through the outer barrel and the tumbler sleeve of a resettable, axial pin tubular lock and projects into a circumferential groove formed around the locking spindle. A rearwardly facing shoulder defined by the forward wall of the groove engages the inner end portion of the retaining pin and prevents the spindle from being forcibly punched rearwardly within the tumbler sleeve. The retainer pin also holds the tumbler sleeve in a fixed position in the outer barrel.

An improved locking device, useful in, for example, a key-operated slide fastener bag lock of a type having a housing presenting an anvil to underlie a slide of a slide fastener and a rotatable keeper arm movable between an aligned position with respect to the anvil for confining the slide and a rotated out of the way position, and a lock cylinder disposed within the keeper arm, utilizes an actuator member having a cam surface and spring finger that actuate a locking pin when the keeper arm is aligned with the anvil and the lock cylinder rotated from an unlocked to a locked position or the lock cylinder is in a locked position and the keeper arm is moved into alignment with the anvil. The actuator member can be formed of a one piece, molded synthetic material, is light weight, economical to manufacture, and eases assembly as well as occupying a minimum of space, and may also function to limit the rotation of the key-operated lock cylinder within predetermined limits.

An electrical switch operating subassembly for a mechanical key-actuated lock which may be readily and easily incorporated into commonly utilized lock sizes and which may be likewise disassembled for rekeying and changing of switch contact elements, the essential components of which are two contact effecting interfitting members that are removably insertable in the lock cylinder and which coact with one another to make and break an electrical circuit upon rotation of the lock operating spindle with a proper key and also provide the rotational limits of the lock for switch-on and switch-off positions.

An axial pin tumbler type lock with alarm triggering capability upon an attempt at picking by stemmed locking pins which will close a circuit through a contact element wherein the contact element is seated against the rear of the stationary sleeve which is of insulating material, the contact element having openings therein which allow the pin stems to pass through and beyond the contact element, and an insulating ring which is fixed to and rotatable with the spindle, the insulating ring being also made of insulating material and having a plurality of bores that can receive the pin stems thereby preventing the application of the requisite torque to defeat the lock by picking.

Alarm switch mechanism for axial pin tumbler locks

A cable lock having an elongated lock body secured to one end of the cable with a transverse cable receiving bore passing completely through the lock body and a key-actuated plug carried by the body with first securement means associated with the transverse cable receiving bore. The opposite end of the cable has a lug end engagement member adapted to be received in the transverse bore and means for interlocking engagement with the key plug engagement means upon rotation of a key in the plug to secure the cable to the lock body. A plurality of spaced lug engagement members carried by the cable likewise have securement means to be interlocked with the cable body such that the cable can be locked to the body in a plurality of positions to provide varying size loops of cable used for securement of bicycles, motorcycles and the like.

An axial split-pin tumbler-type lock mechanism having a barrel assembly of a rotatable operating part and a stationary part housed in a lock cylinder, a plurality of tumblers each having a driver element carried by the operating part and a follower element carried by the stationary part, and spring means urging the tumblers into locking positions, includes means providing a plurality of longitudinal grooves in the outer surfaces of the operating and stationary parts, the driver and follower elements being carried in such grooves, and means adjacent to one end of the barrel assembly for seating the spring means.

A sleeve and terminal holder assembly for an axial split-pin tumbler-type switch lock mechanism, such mechanism including a lock cylinder, and an operating part disposed forwardly within the cylinder and rotatable therein, the operating part including a cylindrical head and a shaft having a reduced diameter extending rearwardly therefrom, the head having longitudinal tumbler bores extending therethrough and disposed radially outwardly of the shaft, the assembly comprising a sleeve adapted to be disposed within the cylinder adjacent to the operating part head and with the shaft extending therethrough, the sleeve having longitudinal tumbler bores therein adapted for alignment with the head bores for receiving split-pin tumblers in aligned bores, a holder for electrical terminals spaced rearwardly from the sleeve, and means joining the sleeve to the holder in an assembly adapted for insertion in the cylinder as a unit.

An axial split-pin tumbler-type lock mechanism includes a rotatable operating part and a stationary part, which adjoin at an interfacial plane. Tumblers each including a driver element and a follower element are mounted in bores in the parts, which bores meet in alignment at the interfacial plane, and the tumblers are movable back and forth in the bores. When the joints between the tumbler elements coincide with the interfacial plane upon insertion of a key, the operating part may be rotated by means of the key, to accomplish a desired function. The lock mechanism is provided with structure making it resistant to picking, including ledge means on the operating part adjacent to and intermediate the ends of a bore in the stationary part, and rib means on a follower element carried in the latter bore and adapted to overlappingly engage the ledge means when picking torque is applied to the operating part and while the joint of the tumbler which includes the latter follower element is displaced from the interfacial plane, for preventing longitudinal movement of the follower element in the direction of the interfacial plane.

An axial split-pin tumbler-type lock mechanism for a handle lock and of the type including a lock cylinder, a forwardly disposed operating part rotatable in the cylinder, a rearwardly disposed stationary sleeve in the cylinder and adjoining the operating part at a transverse interfacial plane, the operating part including a shaft extending axially through the sleeve, the key-operated spring-pressed axially movable split-pin tumblers carried in bores in the operating part and the sleeve and movable into positions alternately serving to secure the operating part and the sleeve against relative rotation and to free the operating part for rotation to operate the lock mechanism, includes a bolt holder integral with the sleeve part and disposed rearwardly thereof, the holder having a bolt race extending transversely therein, and a lock bolt mounted in the race for transverse sliding movement therein between unlocking and locking positions, the bolt having means cooperating with coupling means on the distal end of the shaft for moving the bolt between such positions in response to rotation of the operating part.
