A system and method for correcting spatial banding artifacts in print images. The system includes: a light source, a spatial light modulator, a transport system for transporting a substrate on a carrier allowing the spatial light modulator to form an image on the substrate; a first encoder ( ) that attaches to the carrier and senses its movement; a second encoder ( ) attached to the drive circuit ( ) of the transport system to sense operation of the drive circuit ( ); a first circuit ( ) that receives the information from the first encoder and adjusts operation of the spatial light modulator; and a second circuit ( ) that receives the signal from the second encoder and adjusts operation of the drive circuit to coordinate movement of the substrate and the image to avoid artifacts. The method for establishing this system is also disclosed.

Motion artifact correction in exposure systems

Asynchronous position pulses drive an interrupt to store pulse times via direct memory access; then synchronous sampling and analysis of the stored position pulse timings provides rate detection useful for feedback as useful in motor control.

Digital control loop

A projection display that combines both overhead projector and electronic display functionality in a single projector. This invention provides a single comprehensive solution, which addresses both overhead projection display needs, as well as electronic projection display needs and further provides a new function that allows superimposed images from the two functions to be captured and stored for future projection through the electronic display function.

Combination overhead projector and electronic display device

A method and system for digital resolution translation. An input frequency is received, as is a desired output frequency. The desired output frequency is measured directly and compared with the input frequency. The specified output frequency is dynamically adjusted to compensate for variations in the input frequency, while a fixed relationship between the input and output is kept intact. The relationship between the input and output frequencies can be arbitrary, non-integer or integer. The system consists of an execution process ( ) and the adjusted output frequency is sent to a system as a sampling signal. The system reset/restart capability allows for a repeatable phase relationship between the output and the input from any given reset point.

Digital resolution translator

A method of correcting the output of a rotary displacement transducer so as to remove spin frequency noise error. For each revolution of the transducer, a series of transducer output values is accumulated. Each output value represents a time interval between transducer pulses. These output values are used to calculate sin and cosine values of a sin wave and cosine wave having a period determined by the transducer resolution. From the sin and cosine waves, a quadrature and an inphase value are obtained, and the latter values are used to calculate magnitude and phase values of a correction sin wave having the same transducer periodicity. The magnitude and phase values are used to calculate a correction value for each transducer output value.

Electronic correction for rotary transducer spin frequency noise

A system for normalizing an infrared detector has two control loops, each of which includes a thermal source and a command system. Each command system controls the temperature of the associated thermal source. Each command system includes an error signal source for providing an error signal indicative of the difference between a commanded temperature for the thermal source and an actual temperature at the thermal source, and includes a compensator coupled between the error signal source and the thermal source. Each compensator includes a first inverse compensation circuit responsive to the error signal for providing an output, a bandwidth maximizing compensation circuit responsive to the output of the first inverse compensation circuit, and a second inverse compensation circuit responsive to an output of the bandwidth maximizing compensation circuit. The thermal source is responsive to the output of the second inverse compensation circuit.
