Sensor excitation in systems where remote sensor signal processing is performed

A switch drive and control arrangement may comprise a first transformer configured to receive a control signal, a second transformer configured to receive a clock signal, and a demodulator configured to receive the control signal and the clock signal from a switch controller, via the first transformer and the second transformer. The demodulator may be configured to output a demodulated signal in response to the control signal and the clock signal. A signal fault detector may be provided to determine a fault in at least one of the control signal and the clock signal. A switch may be turned off in response to a fault being detected in at least one of the control signal or the clock signal.

Transformer coupled control isolation for direct current control signals

A frequency monitoring circuit includes a monitoring lead, a D-type flip-flop, and a one-shot. The D-type flip-flop has a switchable logic state, a clear input, and a clock input. The one-shot has an input and an output connected to the D-type flip-flop clear input. The monitoring lead connects the one-shot input to the latch clock input for switching the logic state of the D-type flip-flop based on change in voltage applied to the monitoring lead.

Frequency detection circuits

A circuit for converting variable frequency generated AC electric power to DC electric power for use on loads comprises a transformer-rectifier unit to convert a generated AC electric power to DC electric power. A tap senses the converted DC power downstream of the transformer-rectifier unit with a filter, which passes a filtered signal to a control for detecting a fault on the transformer-rectifier unit by passing a higher-order harmonic of the generated AC power as the filtered signal. A tap senses an AC frequency of the generated AC power reaching the transformer-rectifier unit. The sensed AC frequency is utilized to tune the filter, such that the filter will pass the higher order harmonic, as the higher order harmonic varies with variation in the AC frequency. A power system is also disclosed.

Digital frequency selective transformer-rectifier unit ripple fault detection

A power transfer control system for use in an AC electric power generation system comprises a generator control unit (GCU) which senses and controls the output of a generator, and a bus power control unit (BPCU) which communicates with the GCU to control and coordinate a power transfer between the generator and another source. Each unit communicates power transfer information, which eliminates the requirement of redundant sensing circuitry and wiring for the BPCU. The BPCU transmits master power control information and a synchronizing signal indicating a zero phase reference point of a control waveform to which the power transfer will take place. The GCU compares parameters of the output power of its respective source with the master power control information and the synchronizing signal. The GCU adjusts its generator's output to track the master power control information, and generates delta phase information representing the phase displacement between said synchronizing signal and the output power of the first source. It also generates a power ready signal when a difference between said sensed parameters of the output power and said master power control information is less than a predetermined threshold. When the BPCU receives this information from the GCU, it initiates a no-break power transfer if the delta phase information is less than a predetermined threshold. The synchronizing signal is sent at a given interval representing the zero crossing at a given frequency of the master waveform. The BPCU may adjust this transmission rate upon variances of the master waveform.

Digital no-break power transfer system

A digital voltage regulator for an electrical power system including a permanent magnet generator (PMG), an exciter, and a main generator. A controller multiplies the frequency of the generator output voltage by a predetermined value to provide a sampling signal having the multiplied frequency and synchronized with the generator output voltage. The controller also provides a sawtooth voltage signal having a repetition rate equal to the frequency of the sampling signal and an incrementing rate determined by the system clock signal. The generator output voltage is sampled at the frequency of the sampling signal. When the difference between the sampled signal and a reference voltage is greater than the sawtooth voltage, the PMG voltage is switched to provide voltage for the exciter field winding.

Voltage regulator for an electrical power system

A control and arbitration unit for use in a remote terminal coupled to a system bus over which data encoded in military standard 1553B format is transmitted manages the flow of data between a local processor, a remote terminal interface coupled to the system bus and a local memory so that data transfers occur in an orderly fashion.
