There is disclosed a shelf-stable microbicidal composition containing no water and including an ene-diol compound, a specific catalytic metal compound, and a propellant suitable for dispensing the ingredients from an aerosol container, with at least one of the ene-diol compound and the catalytic metal compound not in solution. Oxidation of the ene-diol compound catalyzed by the metal compound produces a microbicidal effect.

Microbicidal composition

There is disclosed a composition and method for topically administering griseofulvin to a human or animal in a manner such that a high degree of epidermal, especially stratum corneum, retention of griseofulvin is attained, by contacting the skin of a human or animal with an effective amount of a therapeutic composition containing griseofulvin in a vehicle system comprising 2-pyrrolidone and N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone in a ratio ranging between about 1:4 and about 4:1, said composition containing at least about 10% by weight of said vehicle system.

Topical griseofulvin composition and method

Compositions especially useful for treating inflammation topically in animals comprising an active compound having the structural formula ##SPC1## Where R is H, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, halogen, CF.sub.3, NO.sub.2, OH, CN, COOR.sub.1, ##EQU1## NHCOR.sub.1 or NR.sub.1 R.sub.2 where R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each selected from the group consisting of H and lower alkyl, R, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 being the same or different, and n is 0-5; and where X is an alkyl or alkenyl chain having 2-8 carbon atoms, one of which carbon atoms may be in the form of a carbonyl group, and Y is hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or aryl and aralkyl substituted with one or more R; and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, together with a pharmaceutical carrier containing an effective amount of an active radical having the structural formula ##SPC2## Where n is 1-4 and A is H or ##SPC3## And Z is H or --CH=NOH or --CONHOH and one and only one Z in a heterocyclic ring is H.
