An internal combustion engine with an adjustable compression ratio has connecting rods (), each of which has a hydraulically adjustable eccentric adjustment device arranged in a connecting rod bearing eye () and/or in a crankpin bearing eye () for adjusting an effective connecting rod length (l) of the respective connecting rod (). Travel of the eccentric adjustment device is controlled by a switchover valve (). Each switchover valve () has a pick-off means (). The switchover valves () can be actuated by an actuation device () that has a switching fork () for each switchover valve () and thus for each pick-off means () to be actuated. The pick-off means () and the switching forks () are oriented relative to one another so that inertial forces acting during driving assist the actuation of the switchover valves () by the actuation device ().

Internal combustion engine

A cylinder block has functional surfaces machined by cutting and with at least one cylinder () with a coating. To simplify the production of the cylinder block, the cylinder block () has an inwardly projecting collar () at the end of the cylinder () to delimit the cylinder () in the axial direction. The side of the collar () facing away the from the cylinder () constitutes a stop for a suction extraction device () that serves for extracting excess coating material by suction.

A water-cooled cylinder head for a multicylinder internal-combustion engine, has a cylinder head housing which has charge cycle ducts, passage bores for receiving cylinder head screws, valve stem guides for inlet and outlet valves controlling the charge cycle ducts, and part-spherical combustion chamber caps which are bounded by a water cooling jacket on a side facing away from the combustion chamber. One spark plug dome respectively has an opening leading to the combustion chamber of the respective cylinder. For reinforcing the cylinder head housing and/or for supporting the part-spherical combustion chamber caps, a rib structure is integrated in the cylinder head housing.

Water-cooled cylinder head for a multicylinder internal-combustion engine

A water-cooled cylinder head is provided for a multicylinder internal-combustion engine having two inlet and outlet valves per cylinder. The cylinder head has a cylinder head cooling space with inflow and outflow openings for the coolant which is integrated in the cylinder head housing and extends above a part-spherical cap forming a combustion chamber volume. Water cooling spaces are formed at least in areas around a receiving opening for a spark plug arranged centrally in the cylinder head housing and around the two outlet valves. The water cooling spaces are mutually connected by way of a common annulus section. At least the common water cooling jacket annulus section has a volume which remains an essentially constant distance from the combustion chamber volume, so that, at least in this area, the wall thickness of the part-spherical combustion chamber cap extends in a uniform manner and to close to the combustion chamber volume.

A fixing device for an injection nozzle, in particular, for an injection nozzle of an internal combustion engine with direct fuel injection. The injection nozzle includes a nozzle holder body whose cylindrical first and second end pieces interact with a first and a second bore hole of components of the internal combustion engine. For easy mounting and leakproof fastening of the injection nozzle, a clamping device acts upon the nozzle holder body. The clamping device holds in place, with a defined prestress, the first end piece in the first bore hole of a cylinder head. The second end piece preferably works together with the second bore hole of an intake arrangement, with the help of a reduction sleeve.

Fixing device for an injection nozzle

The cylinder head arrangement of an internal-combustion engine has a basic housing, a support component and a cylinder head cover. The three housing components are assembled such that two independent junction planes are formed. In both of these junction planes, grooves are placed in at least one of the two adjoining housing components and serve as oil ducts and form the mutually independent oil galleries or oil supply branches. These independent oil supply ducts supply different consuming devices with oil. Bores are largely eliminated and a course of the oil ducts which is free of intersections is provided also for very complex cylinder head arrangement having a large number of consuming devices.

Internal combustion engine cylinder head arrangement

A multicylinder, four-stroke internal-combustion engine is spark-ignited and has three intake valves and one exhaust valve which interact in the combustion chamber with valve openings having valve opening centers. The valve opening centers are situated on both sides of a longitudinal center plane of the internal-combustion engine. The valves are arranged so that a first intake valve and a second intake valve with their valve opening centers are situated on one side of the longitudinal center plane, whereas a third intake valve and the exhaust valve with their valve opening centers are situated on the other side of the longitudinal center plane.

An intake system which includes an intake distributor as well as intake pipe sockets leading to inlet ports in cylinder heads of an internal-combustion engine is held on the internal-combustion engine by means of first and second decoupling elements. For the mounting of the intake distributor, a plurality of tension devices are required which tension decoupling elements supported on a flange facing of the cylinder head. The forces which are transmitted in this case by the tension devices to the intake distributor may also be supported on the cylinder head by way of additional decoupling elements which are under compression due to the tension devices.
