A wireless data transceiver includes a media access controller (MAC) that receives an inbound packet from an air interface and to buffer that packet for transport to a host, and receives an outbound packet and transfers that packet to the air interface. A host interface receives the inbound packet from the MAC and transfers the inbound packet to the host, and receives the outbound packet from the host for transfer to the MAC. Transport controller circuitry (TCC), including processing circuitry configured to execute instructions, manages the transceiver. Hardware data transport circuitry (HDTC) for transporting packets in either direction between the MAC and the host interface includes a buffer memory having a plurality of slots. The TCC or HDTC issues a start or stop signal to the host interface causing the HDTC and the host interface to begin or end transfer of data between the buffer memory and the host interface.

Data transfer interface with reduced signaling

A wireless network interface generates a beacon frame, and transmits the beacon frame outside of a wireless local area network (WLAN) served by an access point (AP). Additionally or alternatively, the wireless network interface receives a first probe request frame from a client station in the WLAN, and in response, generates and transmits a probe response frame outside of the WLAN. The wireless network interface receives one or more frames from the client station of the WLAN, the one or more frames having been transmitted outside of the WLAN. Network security information corresponding to the WLAN is extracted from the one or more frames, and the wireless network interface uses the network security information to wirelessly connect to the AP as part of the WLAN.

Systems and methods for provisioning devices for WLAN

A wireless data transceiver includes a media access controller (MAC) configured to receive an inbound data packet from an air interface and to buffer the inbound packet for transport to a host, and to receive an outbound data packet from elsewhere in the transceiver and to transfer the outbound packet to the air interface. The transceiver further includes a host interface configured to receive the inbound packet transported from the MAC and to transfer the inbound packet to the host, and to receive the outbound packet from the host for transfer to the MAC. The transceiver also includes transport controller circuitry configured to execute instructions to generate and transfer management packets. In addition, the wireless data transceiver includes hardware data transport circuitry for transporting the inbound packet from the MAC to the host interface, and for transporting the outbound packet from the host interface to the MAC, without executing instructions.

Hardware data transport in wireless data transceiver

Provided is a method in a device under configuration (DUC) for communicating with a remote device over a wireless local area network. The method comprises transmitting a beacon to a remote device, providing a first security key to the remote device using first security measures, authenticating the remote device using second security measures, receiving encrypted secrets from the remote device, and obtaining network access using the secrets. Also, provided is a method of providing network access information over a wireless network. The method comprises identifying a device under configuration (DUC) from information contained in a beacon transmitted by the DUC, retrieving a public KEY from the DUC, authenticating the DUC using first security measures, encrypting secrets, and transmitting encrypted commands to the DUC.

Security in smart configuration for WLAN based IOT device

Systems and techniques relating to wireless networking systems and techniques, namely remotely managing, configuring, visualizing, and interacting with wireless nodes, include: determining a transport medium usable for communication of a discovery message via a wireless network, wherein the discovery message is formatted according to a protocol; transmitting one or more discovery messages using the determined transport medium; receiving one or more response messages associated with the one or more discovery messages, wherein each of the one or more response messages includes (i) information indicating the wireless association, wherein the wireless association is between a wireless device corresponding to the response message and at least one other wireless device accessible via the wireless network, and (ii) triangulation parameters; and determining a network topology of the wireless network based on the one or more response messages.

Method and apparatus of remote configuration and management of wireless nodes

The present disclosure describes methods and apparatuses for location service offload for Bluetooth positioning. In some aspects a Bluetooth radio frequency (RF) signal is sampled by a Bluetooth transceiver to produce a set of samples corresponding to an advertisement packet and the set of samples are stored in a shared memory. Another transceiver is signaled that the set of samples are stored in the shared memory, causing the other transceiver to generate the Angle of Arrival (AoA) of the Bluetooth RF signal. A signal is received from the other transceiver indicating that the generated AoA is available in the shared memory. The generated AoA is read from the shared memory by the Bluetooth transceiver and sent to a host processor. By so doing, data transfer between the Bluetooth transceiver and the host processor is reduced, as well as, reducing the computational load on the host processor.

Systems and techniques relating to angle of arrival (AoA) reverse locationing include: transmitting, by a first wireless device to a second wireless device, one or more reverse tracking service discovery messages via a wireless communication link; receiving, at the first wireless device from the second wireless device, one or more response messages associated with the one or more reverse tracking service discovery messages, wherein the one or more response messages comprise (i) information indicating that the second wireless device is enabled for reverse tracking, and (ii) angle of arrival (AoA) information based on AoA calculations performed by the second wireless device; and determining, by the first wireless device, a location of the second wireless device based on the received AoA information.

Reverse locationing with Bluetooth angle of arrival (AoA)

A first network interface and a second network interface of a wireless network device are respectively controlled to operate as a station in a first wireless network and as an access point in a second wireless network. A beacon message, which includes a first signal strength of a first bridge node that is an access point in the first wireless network, is transmitted through the second network interface. A probe response message, which includes a second signal strength of a second bridge node that is an access point in a third wireless network, is received at the second network interface. Conditioned on determining that the second signal strength is greater than the first signal strength, the first network interface is disconnected from the first bridge node and is connected to the second bridge node to operate as a station in the third wireless network.

Configuring network connections

A wireless network bridge controls a first network interface to operate as a first station in a first wireless network, and controls a second network interface to operate as an access point in a second wireless network. The bridge controls a bridge table that includes an entry associating one or more network addresses of a second station with the second network interface. The second station is accessible through the second network interface operating as an access point. The bridge receives a packet for communication between the second station and a network device in the first wireless network; examines the packet to find one or more network addresses included in the packet; associates the packet with the second station by performing a lookup of the bridge table; and communicates packet information with the second station through the second network interface, and with the network device through the first network interface.

In an example, a method includes determining, at a host device, a power state of a digital input/output device, and transmitting a clock signal having a first frequency from the host device to the input/output device responsive to a determination that the input/output device is in a lower power state. The method also includes determining, at the host device, that the input/output device has transitioned into a higher power state, and transmitting a clock signal having a second frequency from the host device to the input/output device responsive to a determination that the input/output device has transitioned into the higher power state. The first frequency is lower than the second frequency.

Efficient key establishment for wireless networks

A filter expression is received at a wireless device assembly of a communication device. While a host assembly of the communication device is in a sleep mode, the wireless device assembly receives a signal having packet data, and determines whether the packet data contains a data pattern indicated by the filter expression. If the packet data contains the data pattern, the wireless device assembly communicates a wakeup signal to the host assembly for changing the host assembly from the sleep mode to an active mode. If the packet data does not contain the data pattern, the wireless device assembly does not communicate the wakeup signal to the host assembly.

Memory efficient filtering

A network device includes a receiving module and a detecting module. The receiving module is configured to receive a beacon transmitted by a remote device operating in one of a plurality of network modes, or a probe response transmitted by the remote device in response to a probe request transmitted by the network device. The beacon or the probe response includes an information element indicating that the remote device is capable of operating in the plurality of network modes. The plurality of network modes includes an ad-hoc mode, an infrastructure mode, a mesh mode, and a WiFi direct peer-to-peer mode. The detecting module is configured to detect the remote device as capable of operating in the plurality of network modes based on the information element.

Signaling schemes allowing discovery of network devices capable of operating in multiple network modes

In accordance with the invention, a method, system and apparatus for saving power consumed by a station in an ad hoc wireless network are presented. The method comprises transmitting or receiving a signal by a station in the ad hoc wireless network during a beacon interval. The station enters a power saving doze state immediately following the transmission or reception of the signal and prior to the end of the beacon interval. Additionally or alternatively, the station may enter power saving doze state following a timed period, according to a counter, or according to a periodic pattern.

Enhanced IEEE power save in ad hoc wireless mode

A host assembly of a wireless device enters into a handshaking procedure with firmware of the wireless device to initiate entry into or exit from a host sleep mode. Before such entry or exit, the handshaking procedure may require the host assembly to send an initiation handshake signal to the firmware, and require the firmware to send a confirmation handshake signal back to the host assembly. Entry or exit may be delayed until after the confirmation signal is received. The confirmation signal may vary depending on the handshaking configuration and activation data, and the confirmation signal may vary depending on whether the wireless device is in a power save mode or not.
