A membrane used in waterproofing and roofing applications, the membrane comprising a barrier layer comprising a thermoplastic polymer component and a contact layer bonded to at least portion of the barrier layer, the contact layer comprising a mixture of a solid filler component and a thermoplastic polymer component. The disclosure is also directed to a method for producing the membrane, a method for waterproofing a substrate, a waterproofed construction, a method for sealing a substrate against water penetration, and a sealed construction for sealing a substrate against water penetration.

A plasticized PVC formulation for foam extrusion including polyvinyl chloride, at least one plasticizer, at least one nucleating agent and a chemical blowing agent, wherein the plasticized PVC formulation is a dry blend containing 0.5 to 5% by weight of one or more nucleating agents and 0.1 to 3% by weight of the chemical blowing agent, wherein the blowing agent is sodium bicarbonate and the nucleating agent is talcum, and a foam extrusion method using said formulation. The invention further relates to a method for sealing said bases. The method according to the invention allows structures of civil engineering to be sealed rapidly and efficiently and ensures good adhesion of the sealing device on the base.

An expandable insert assembly, method of making the same, and a vehicle structure are disclosed. A structure may include a wall defining at least a portion of a cavity, with the wall including an installation surface for the insert. The insert may include a substrate configured to be secured to the installation surface, with the substrate having a stiffness allowing the substrate to deflect relative to an initial shape. The insert further includes a plurality of discrete expandable elements secured to the substrate adjacent the installation surface. Each of the discrete expandable elements are formed of an expandable material and are secured to the substrate such that they do not affect the stiffness of the substrate prior to expansion of the expandable elements.

When the foam is subjected to 95% relative humidity for a period of 7 days at a temperature of about 50&#xb0; C., the foam absorbs an amount of water that is less than about 30% of the weight of the foam.

The compositions comprise a water-based polymer resin and a drying control agent. The drying control agent minimizes the occurrence of cracks and swelling in the damping coating films when the coating films are baked and dried.

A polyurethane foam is disclosed and described. The polyurethane foam is formed by combining a first component comprising at least one polyol with a second component comprising at least one polyisocyanate. The ratio of the number of isocyanate equivalents in the second component to the number of hydroxyl equivalents in the second component is less than 1.0. The foam exhibits low levels of free diisocyanate monomer, thereby reducing the amount of hazardous, volatile organic compounds. As a result, the foam can be prepared and installed without the need for ventilation equipment, external sources of fresh air, and the like.
