The present invention relates to an axle carrierand to a method for the production of the axle carrier. The axle carrierhas an upper shellfrom an aluminum die-casting and a lower shellfrom a fiber composite material. On a ribbed structure of the lower shell, an upper endof the reinforcing ribsis preferably configured so as to be widened such that the bearing face between the reinforcing riband the upper shellis enlarged and, on account thereof, the strength of the axle carrierproduced is increased.

Axle carrier of a hybrid construction mode

An axle carrier for a motor vehicle is disclosed having at least two attachment points, a metallic upper shell and a lower shell of fiber composite material coupled to the metallic upper shell. A first load path extending through the metallic upper shell between the at least two attachment points in an edge region, and a second load path shorter that the first load path extending through the lower shell.
