A sacroiliac fusion stabilizer (SIFS) for fusing a first bone fracture fragment to a second bone fracture fragment is provided. In one embodiment, the SIFS has a lazy-S shape with a series of protrusions at the ends of the SIFS. In another embodiment, the SIFS has two overlapping lazy-S shapes.

Minimally invasive surgical systems for fusion of the sacroiliac joint

A system of devices and methods for use by which one or more target motion segments of the cervical spine are stabilized without any violation of the cortical bone of the target vertebrae. The devices are brought against strategic aspects of these vertebrae, thus permitting the disclosed inventions to achieve secure control of each vertebra. Connecting elements then stabilize the constructs. Preferred and alternative embodiments of the invention are disclosed, along with methods of implantation, and adjunct devices used in the implantation of the disclosed invention.

Device and method to establish stabilization of the cervical spine without implantation of hardware or violation of the cortical bone

A device and method for use which stabilizes a target motion segment of the spine without the use of screws or any form of hardware implanted into the vertebrae. By being comprised of modular segments and assembled onto the target motion segment at the time of implantation, it can be provided in kit form designed for each patient. The stabilization apparatus general comprises elements; one is adjustably secured to the posterolateral aspect of the caudal vertebra of the target motion segment, with another element being secured to the base of the spinous process of the cranial vertebra of the target motion segment. These two elements are then coupled to each other by either an elongated rod-like connecting element, or extensions from the two anchoring elements which then couple.

Spinal stabilization without implantation of hardware into the vertebrae proper or violation of cortical bone

An endovascular catheter combination configured to have multiple capabilities is disclosed. These capabilities include proximal and distal occlusion of a segment of a target blood vessel (such as the carotid artery) thus excluding the segment of the blood vessel from circulation for purposes such as surgical consideration. Another capability includes intravascular shunting of the blood through the excluded portion of the artery during a procedure such as an endarterectomy. Additionally, a microsensor provides a measurement of the rate/volume of blood flow through the distal end of the catheter. In one embodiment, a guidewire is provided with a filtration mesh as an anti-embolic mechanism both at the time of initial positioning of the catheter and after reversing the occlusion.

Methods and systems for performing spinal surgery

A method for performing percutaneous interbody fusion is disclosed. The method includes the steps of inserting a guide needle posteriorly to the disc space, inserting a dilator having an inner diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of the guide needle over the guide needle to the disc space to enlarge the disc space, and successively passing a series of dilators, each having an inner diameter slightly larger than the outer diameter of the previous dilator, over the previous dilator to the disc space the gradually and incrementally increase the height of the disc space. Once the desired disc height is achieved, the guide needle and all the dilators, with the exception of the outermost dilator, are removed. An expandable intervertebral disc spacer is then passed through the remaining dilator and positioned in the disc space. The disc spacer is expanded to the required disc height, and then a bone matrix is passed through the dilator to fill the disc space. The dilator is then removed. An expandable intervertebral disc spacer is also disclosed, having a tapered bore that causes greater expansion of one end of the spacer with respect to the other. A kit for performing the percutaneous interbody fusion procedure is also disclosed.

A minimally invasive method for stabilizing adjacent vertebrae to be fused is accomplished with a device configured to interlink the pedicles of the adjacent vertebrae and including multiple pedicle screws. Each of the pedicle screws has a screw head configured to receive a connecting rod in a position, in which the rod and the receiving pedicle screw are vertically aligned.

A syringe assembly for administering a variety of fluids includes a syringe provided with a plurality of flow-isolated chambers, each of which is in flow communication with a respective lumen of a multi-lumen needle located downstream from the syringe. A surgical kit for percutaneously repairing post-operative leaks in internal fluid carrying vessels and organs. The kit includes at least one syringe and at least one marker for placement on the body of the patient to mark the location of the leak. The syringe and marker are enclosed in a sterile package which includes a top cover and a bottom cover. A method for repairing a leak in a fluid carrying vessel or organ, such as the dura mater of the spinal cord, is also disclosed.
