A capped electric lamp has a light-transmitting lamp vessel accommodating an electrical element and a lamp cap provided with a projecting contact pin (). An indentation () is formed in the contact pin () to fix the current-supply conductor (). According to the invention, the indentation () comprises a weakening portion () for weakening the current-supply conductor () during the manufacture of the electric lamp and comprises a fixation portion () for fixing the current-supply conductor () in the contact pin (), wherein said weakening and fixation portion are substantially parallel to each other. Preferably, the indentation () comprises a narrow portion () between the weakening portion () and the fixation portion () which is relatively narrow compared with the weakening portion () and the fixation portion ().

Capped electric lamp and low-pressure mercury-vapor discharge lamp

An electric lamp has a cap, which is secured to a light-transmitting lamp vessel having an electric element. The lamp cap has a projecting contact pin. An electric conductor is connected to the electric element and the contact pin. The contact pin is unilaterally deformed in an inward direction so as to form an indentation for fixing the electric conductor. The electric conductor in the contact pin does not extend substantially beyond a boundary of the indentation. The indentation has a pinch portion. The pinch portion deepens at an angle a with respect to the axis, where 25&deg;&lE;&agr;&lE;45&deg;. In addition, the indentation has a press portion for fixing the electric conductor in the contact pin.

A method of manufacturing a low-pressure mercury vapor discharge lamp starting from a discharge vessel (,) wherein a closed holder (,) is placed which is provided with a quantity of one or more substances to be introduced in the discharge vessel (,). Subsequently, a desired gas atmosphere is brought about in the discharge vessel (,) and the discharge vessel is closed. Finally, the holder (,) is opened. According to the invention, the holder (,) is made from a leadoxide containing glass, which leadoxide is partly reduced and in which the amount of reduction is a measure of the mercury content of the holder (,). Due to the reduction process holders (,) with different mercury contents have a different color.
