The present disclosure is directed to creped tissue webs, and products produced therefrom. The creped tissue webs and tissue products made therefrom are soft and strong, such as having a TS7 value less than about 8.0. Moreover, the tissue of the present disclosure also preferably has low TS750 values such as less than about 7.0. Further, while webs prepared according to the present disclosure have low TS7, and in certain embodiments low TS750 values, they are also strong enough to withstand use.

Soft creped tissue

The present disclosure relates generally to a tissue product having a creping composition disposed onto at least one surface thereof to increase the softness of the article, while retaining or improving manufacturing efficiency. The tissue products also have a sizing agent that increases the Wet Out time, without negatively impacting softness or machine runability. Preferably the creping composition comprises a cationic component and a film forming component, both of which are preferably water soluble. The cationic component carries a cationic charge that is capable of forming ionic bonds with the negatively charged fibers of the tissue web, thus providing a retention mechanism by which the creping composition is retained on the sheet. The overall retention of the creping composition on the sheet reduces the concentration of the composition in the machine process water, improving machine operability and runability.

Soft creped tissue having slow wet out time

The present disclosure relates generally to a tissue product having a creping composition disposed onto at least one surface thereof to increase the softness of the article, while retaining or improving manufacturing efficiency. Preferably the creping composition comprises a first component that is cationic and a second component that is capable of forming a film. Preferably both the first and second components are water soluble. The first component carries a cationic charge that is capable of forming ionic bonds with the negatively charged fibers of the tissue web, thus providing a retention mechanism by which the creping composition is retained. The overall retention of the creping composition reduces the concentration of the composition in the machine process water, improving machine operability and runability.

Fibrous products are disclosed containing an additive composition. The additive composition, for instance, comprises a water-soluble film forming component, a first water-soluble modifier component and a hydrophobic polymer component. In some aspects, the additive composition further comprises an additional water-soluble modifier component. The additive composition may be incorporated into the fibrous web by being combined with the fibers that are used to form the web. Alternatively, the additive composition may be topically applied to the web after the web has been formed. In one aspect, the additive composition may be applied to the web as a creping adhesive during a creping operation. The additive composition may improve the perceived softness of the web without substantially affecting the absorbency of the web in an adverse manner.

A process for producing tissue webs is disclosed. The process includes the step of partially dewatering a tissue web and then subjecting the web to multiple deflections against fabrics prior to drying the tissue web. For instance, in one embodiment, the tissue web is deflected multiple times in between two opposing fabrics. The tissue web can be deflected against the fabrics under sufficient pressure to cause the tissue web to mold against the fabrics. By deflecting the tissue web multiple times, rearrangement of the papermaking fibers contained in the tissue web occurs increasing the bulk of the web.

Method for producing soft bulky tissue

Paper products, such as wiping products, are disclosed that have a fabric-imprinted pattern in combination with a crepe pattern. In producing paper products according to the invention, a base web containing pulp fibers is formed. Once the base web is substantially dry, the web is creped to form a first pattern. The creped web is then placed between two moving conveyors and guided around one or more compression inducing elements. As the web is guided around the compression inducing element in between the two conveyors, shear forces and compressive forces are imparted to the web that form a fabric-imprinted pattern superimposed on the crepe pattern. In one embodiment, the fabric-imprinted pattern comprises high density troughs.

Creped and imprinted web

A method is disclosed for topical application of compositions containing a chemical additive onto a paper web. The present invention is also directed to paper products formed from the method. In general, the method includes the steps of extruding a composition containing a chemical additive through a melt blown die and then applying the composition to a moving paper web. In one embodiment, the chemical composition is extruded into fibers and applied to the paper web. The chemical composition can contain, for instance, various additives, such as a polysiloxane softener.

Method for the application of viscous compositions to the surface of a paper web and products made therefrom

An inexpensive breathable protective outer garment is produced from a breathable laminated fabric having a breathable film adhesively bonded to a nonwoven fabric. The film constitutes the outer layer of the garment and the nonwoven layer is on the inside. The seams of the garment are ultrasonically bonded such that the film sides of the laminate are in contact with each other during seaming.

Lightweight, breathable, sonic-bonded protective outer garments

A sanitary napkin having a body-side adhesive is disclosed having an absorbent core with at least one body-facing surface designed to be positioned against the wearer's body and a pressure sensitive adhesive secured to the body-facing surface. In one aspect, the article is limited in dimension and includes a hot melt adhesive to be pressed against the wearer's pudendal region and characterized by a midblock Tg of less than &minus;10&deg; C., a G&prime; (storage modulus) less than 15&times;10 dynes/cm at 10 rad/s. (25&deg; C.), a G&Prime; (loss modulus) of 1 to 6&times;10 dynes/cm , a tensile strength greater than 10 psi, and requiring no subsequent curing operation after cooling. In one aspect, the article includes the adhesive to be pressed against the wearer's pudendal region has an adhesive weight less than 1500 mg per square inch and a tan delta residing inside a quadrangle ABCD wherein said quadrangle ABCD is defined by graphically plotting frequency in radians per second versus tan delta referenced to about 20&deg; Centigrade of the adhesive, the quadrangle ABCD having as points A and D a tan delta of about 0.01 and about 0.6 respectively at a frequency of about 0.1 radians per second and points B and C at a tan delta of about 0.1 and about 1.7 respectively at a frequency of about 1000 radians per second.

A process for increasing the tactile properties of a base web without adversely effecting the strength of the web is disclosed. In one embodiment, the process includes the steps of placing a creped base web between a first moving conveyor and a second moving conveyor. The conveyors are then wrapped around a shear-inducing roll which creates shear forces and compressive forces that act upon the base web. The shear forces disrupt the web, increasing the softness and decreasing the stiffness of the web. The compressive forces are localized at the areas where the fabric knuckles contact the base web, imparting a unique fabric-imprinted pattern to the web with limited caliper reduction. The shear-inducing roll typically has a relatively small diameter. In some applications, more than one shear-inducing roll may be incorporated into the system.

Process for increasing the softness of base webs and products made therefrom

Soft tissues, such as facial tissues, having improved softness can be produced by incorporating two different softening compounds into the tissue, namely an imidazolinium quaternary compound and a cationic amidoamine compound.

An absorbent article is provided having an adhesive on the bodyfacing surface for securement of the article to the wearer. The adhesive has a rheological property tan &dgr; at 20&deg; C. ranging from about 0.01 to about 0.6 at a frequency of about 0.1 radian per second and a tan &dgr; ranging from about 0.1 to about 1.7 at a frequency of about 1000 radians per second. Preferably the adhesive is a hot melt adhesive.
