A valve for permitting mixing of at least two components within a barrel is provided including a stopper configured for slidable liquid-tight engagement with an inner surface of the barrel. The stopper is moveable between a first position and a second position and includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a channel extending therebetween. The valve further includes a stationary body comprising a base and a stem, the stem being disposed within the channel of the stopper when the stopper is in the second position. When the stopper is in the first position, there is a liquid-tight seal in the channel, such that fluid flow through the channel is prevented. Movement of the stopper to the second position terminates the liquid-tight seal, thereby establishing fluid communication through the channel. A drug containing device and assembly for delivering a reconstituted drug are also provided herein.

Valve permitting mixing in a drug delivery device

An electronic insulin delivery device receives glucose data from a glucose monitor and sets a bolus dose amount. The device may take the form of an insulin pen with automatic priming and accurate dosing provided by a motor in connection with an encoder. The device may communicate with and be controlled by a smart phone device. The smart phone device provides a user interface to receive user data including patient weight, insulin to carbohydrate ratio and exercise factor, and to send instructions to the device, including dose amount. The dose amount is determined taking into account glucose level and trend, and other factors. The delivery device may be in continuous communication with the glucose monitor and smart phone to provide for near real-time adjustments in glucose treatment. Glucose data, insulin injection data, and other relevant data may be stored and accessible to interested parties.

Continuous glucose monitoring injection device

A system and method is provided for an injectable substance delivery pen comprising a microneedle hub assembly removably engaged with a pen device body which includes a cartridge, a plunger, and a drive mechanism. The hub assembly includes at least one microneedle for intradermal or shallow subcutaneous injection of the contents of the cartridge. The cartridge, plunger and drive mechanism components of the pen body are fabricated of non-compliant and non-compressible materials to allow effective communication of the cartridge contents via the microneedle patient interface.

Microneedle-based pen device for drug delivery and method for using same

In one aspect of the invention, a needle assembly is provided, including: a body having a proximal end, a distal end, and a channel located therebetween, the body being configured to be mounted to an injector; a needle fixed to the body, the needle having proximal and distal ends, the distal end extending distally from the distal end of the body and being formed for insertion into a patient, the proximal end of the needle being in communication with the channel; and, a filter disposed in the channel proximally of the proximal end of the needle. Advantageously, a needle assembly is provided which permits mixing of at least two substances in preparation for injection, without modification to the associated injector.

A device includes a plurality of skin penetrating devices for delivering or withdrawing a substance through the skin of a patient. The device has a support formed with a top and bottom end and a plurality of channels extending axially through the support. A plurality of the skin penetrating members is positioned in the channels with a tip extending from the bottom end of the support. A coupling member is attached to the support for coupling with a fluid supply and directing the fluid to the skin penetrating members. The skin penetrating members have a length of about 100 microns to about 2000 microns and are about 30 to 50 gauge.

Device for withdrawing or administering a substance and method of manufacturing a device

A system and method is provided for an injectable substance delivery device comprising a limiter, shoulder or post that controls how deep the needle is inserted into the tissue. The limiter is sized in proportions that control the maximum insertion depth of the needle into the tissue without excessively restricting the complete insertion of the needle. The system and method further comprises an normalization or stabilizer ring that prevents distortion of the tissue in the vicinity of the infusion, so that the needle length is the major determining factor as to how deep the infusion is delivered.

Intradermal delivery device

A primable catheter including a thermoreactive, viscoelastic material that is internally supported with a trocar wire. The primable catheter further includes a multi-chamfered tip and a gap interposed between an inner surface of the catheter and the outer surface of the trocar, such that a priming fluid is permitted to flow through the catheter and purge air trapped between the trocar and the inner surface of the catheter. Following insertion of the catheter, the trocar is removed and a therapeutic is infused via the catheter.

Optimized intracranial catheters for convection-enhanced delivery of therapeutics

A delivery device system is provided for assisting a patient and physician in maintaining a depth and position of an inserted catheter within a target tissue. The delivery device includes a base member that is secured to an external surface of the patient. The base member includes an aperture through which a catheter is inserted to access the target tissue. The base member further includes a hinged clip that selectively locks into a closed position to secure the catheter within the delivery device and maintain a desired insertion depth of the catheter within the target tissue. The base member further includes a receiving channel for compatibly and adjustably securing an adapter portion of the catheter in a horizontal orientation.

Systems and methods for providing a convection-enhanced delivery device

A valve is provided herein for permitting mixing of at least two components, the valve including a body configured for slidable liquid tight engagement with an injector or drug cartridge barrel. The body includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a channel extending therebetween, the channel having a proximal portion and a distal portion. A poppet is sealingly and slidably disposed in the channel to selectively move between first and second positions. The poppet includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a fluid channel, the fluid channel being defined in the poppet and extending from an outlet opening located distally of the distal end of the body. With the poppet being in the first position, the poppet defines a liquid tight seal in the channel such that liquid flow through the channel is prevented. With the poppet being in the second position, the fluid channel is in communication with the proximal portion of the channel so as to define a liquid flow path from the proximal portion of the channel to the outlet opening. Advantageously, with the subject invention, a valve is provided which permits controlled separation and mixing of substances in a standard injector or drug cartridge barrel, without any modification required thereto.
