A method for enriching a mixture of a first fluid and a second fluid in the second fluid by separating at least a portion of the first fluid from the mixture of the first fluid and the second fluid; directing the separated first fluid into a jet pump; injecting a power fluid into the jet pump to form a mixture of the power fluid and the separated first fluid; discharging the mixture of power fluid and separated first fluid; and recovering the enriched mixture.

Method and system for increasing oil production from an oil well

A production logging device, insertable into a cased or uncased wellbore for determining concentration of specified components in flowing production fluid, is provided having a tool body sized smaller in diameter than the wellbore so that flowing fluid production is not blocked. A line is connected to the tool body by which movement of the tool body within the wellbore casing can be selectably controlled from a remote location, and by which information signals can be communication from the tool body to the remote location. An infrared radiation source operatively connected to the tool body. A plurality of infrared transmission sites are circumferentially spaced around the tool body directed so that infrared radiation from the infrared radiation source is transmitted through flowing production fluid in the wellbore. A plurality of infrared receptors are circumferentially spaced around the tool body and are positioned so that infrared radiation transmitted through flowing production fluid is received at the plurality of receptors. An infrared analyzer is carried by the tool body, operatively connected to infrared receptors, so that the spectrum of infrared radiation transmitted through production fluid can be determined.

Wellbore infrared detection device and method

Weakly consolidated hydrocarbon fluid bearing earth formation zones having a cohesive strength of about 500 psi or less are produced by completing a well penetrating the zone and initiating production of solids laden fluid from the zone through the well to generate a near wellbore cavity. Production of solids laden fluid is continued until the cavity grows to a point wherein the fluid velocity across the cavity face decreases to a value below the solids particulate transport velocity wherein continued production of fluid will result in a very low or negligible rate of production of solids particulates. Solids particulates are separated from the produced mixture at the surface, the solids are treated to reduce the particle size and reinjected in a slurry into a disposal well for disposal in a hydraulically fractured or disaggregated formation zone remote from the production zone. Cavity growth and production may be carried out by throttling a free flowing well or by artificial lift, preferably utilizing power fluid and a hydraulic jet pump or gas lift techniques.

Well completions in weakly consolidated formations

A method and apparatus for installing an array of sensors in a wellbore wherein the sensors are incorporated into the lower end of a transmission cable which, in turn, is used to lower the array into the wellbore. A load-bearing cable is simultaneously run into the wellbore side-by-side with the transmission cable and the two cables are clamped together at spaced intervals whereby a substantial portion of the tensile forces in the transmission cable is transferred to the load-bearing cable.

Method and apparatus for installing acoustic sensors in a wellbore

A tracer deployment tool for discharging a quantity of radioactive or other toxic tracer material into a wellbore for distribution into an earth formation with an injection fluid includes a first piston held in a predetermined position by shear pins and a member supporting a rupturable vial of tracer material. The member connected to the piston is formed as a generally cylindrical cage through which a knife member extends and responds to movement of the cage to rupture the vial. Movement of the piston uncovers passages which permit through-flow of liquid through the vial retaining cage to flush the tracer material thoroughly from the tool. An elongated actuating rod is connectable to a packer setting mechanism or the like for effecting operation of the tool. An alternate embodiment includes two pistons which define the tracer holding chamber. One of the pistons is connected to the actuating rod and is movable relative to the second piston to reduce the volume of the chamber, displace the second piston to uncover discharge port means and effect discharge of the tracer material from the tool.
