A computer-implemented method is for creating a corrected volume data set representing an examination object. In an embodiment, the method includes providing an initial volume data set based on unknown projection data sets which were acquired via a transmission X-ray imaging system in unknown real mapping geometry; specifying virtual mapping geometry for the initial volume data set; generating virtual projection data sets based on the initial volume data set and the specified virtual mapping geometry; generating corrected mapping geometry based on the plurality of virtual projection data sets; and generating the corrected volume data set based on the virtual projection data sets and the corrected mapping geometry.

Image quality in transmission X-ray imaging

Setting an x-ray emission unit includes acquiring image data with the aid of a number of image recording units. A body region to be recorded of an examination object is identified based on the image data. Position data of the body region to be recorded is established, and the x-ray emission unit is set using the position data.

A computer-implemented method of deriving 3D image data of a reconstruction volume from a plurality of 2D projections by way of filtered back-projection is disclosed. An embodiment of the method includes receiving a plurality of 2D projections of an imaged object, each 2D projection corresponding to a projection plane; applying a filter to each of the 2D projections to yield filtered 2D projections; calculating a filtered back-projection density distribution from the filtered 2D projections; calculating at least one modified filtered back-projection density distribution indicative of outlier values included in the filtered 2D projections; and calculating a revised filtered back-projection density distribution as a weighted linear combination of the filtered back-projection density distribution and the at least one modified filtered back-projection density distribution.

Computer-implemented method of deriving 3D image data of a reconstruction volume and computer readable medium

A first x-ray image is acquired at a predetermined position of a focal point and with a first orientation of an x-ray tube of an x-ray device. Subsequently, the x-ray tube is adjusted by rotating about a predetermined angle and by positioning, wherein the focal point is situated in the predetermined position prior to the adjustment and after the adjustment. After the adjustment, the x-ray tube is situated in a second orientation. Subsequently, a second x-ray image is acquired at the predetermined position and with the second orientation. A combined x-ray image from at least the first and second x-ray image is produced.

Method for imaging by means of an X-ray device and X-ray device

A method is provided for reducing noise in a tomogram and/or volume rendering of at least one object. The noise can occur when scattered radiation artifacts are corrected. At least one tomogram that is affected by scattered radiation and at least one preliminary tomogram that has been corrected by a defined correction method are produced from a plurality of projection image datasets that are affected by scattered radiation. The noise emerging when scattered radiation artifacts are corrected may be reduced by selectively smoothening the noise using a filter based on an edge contour of the at least one object, which contour is rendered in the tomogram that is affected by scattered radiation.

Noise reduction in tomograms

A mathematical scattered radiation model with a number of parameters is specified. A test object is scanned with an X-ray system to generate a first raw dataset. The test object is scanned again to generate a second raw dataset, this time with an intermediary X-ray mask having at least one X-ray transparent region and at least one X-ray non-transparent region between the X-ray source and the test object. Parameter values are determined based on the first raw dataset and on the second raw dataset, and the scattered radiation model is calibrated with the parameter values. An examination object is scanned with the X-ray system to generate a third raw dataset and the third raw dataset is processed with the calibrated scattered radiation model to generate a corrected third raw dataset. A set of X-ray image data is generated from the examination object based on the corrected third raw dataset.

Method for generating X-ray image data, X-ray system and data processing unit

A method for determining at least one three-dimensional image data record of a target area from two sets of projection images recorded with x-ray spectra using different energy maxima. A first set of projection images is recorded via a first X-ray spectrum and different first projection directions and a second set of projection images via a second X-ray spectrum and different second projection directions which differ at least partially from the first projection directions. A three-dimensional anatomy image data record is reconstructed from the first and the second projection images. A three-dimensional spectral image data record is reconstructed by a weighted combination of a first three-dimensional reconstruction image data record reconstructed from the first projection images, and a second three-dimensional reconstruction image data record reconstructed from the second projection images. The anatomy image data record and the spectral image data record are displayed.

Method for the determination of dual energy image data records and X-ray facility

In the present embodiments, a statement related to an image point or an image region in a reconstructed x-ray image is made in relation to the reliability of the reconstructed grayscale value for the image points of a 2D/3D x-ray image. A confidence level is formed for the grayscale value from a first number of the available x-ray images in relation to a second number of required x-ray images for a complete reconstruction of the respective grayscale value of the 2D/3D x-ray image to be imaged.

Device and method for assessing X-ray images

An imaging tomosynthesis system, in particular a mammography system, includes a computer system which generates x-ray projections of an examination object from a plurality of projection angles. The system further reconstructs a stack of tomosynthetic slice images, generates at least one overview image of density values of an examination object from the tomosynthetic image data, selects characteristic density values in the stack at at least one plane position, and determines the geometric level of the at least one selected characteristic density value. The overview image is then displayed with a color value correlated to the geometric level of the at least one characteristic density value.

Imaging tomosynthesis system, in particular mammography system

In a method and x-ray device to determine a three-dimensional target image data set showing at least one partial region of interest of an acquisition region, wherein the image data of the three-dimensional target image data set are reconstructed from two-dimensional projection images acquired from various projection directions, first projection images are acquired without a collimation of the radiation source from first projection directions and a three-dimensional overview image data set of the acquisition region is reconstructed from the first projection images. The partial region of interest is selected in the overview image data set. Second projection images are acquired, with collimation at the partial region, from second projection directions, the second projection directions differing from the first projection directions. The target image data set showing the acquisition region and the partial region of interest is reconstructed from all first and second projection images.

Method and x-ray device to determine a three-dimensional target image data set

An X-ray imaging apparatus has at least one X-ray image system rotatable about an examination volume. The X-ray image system is controlled such that during a continuous rotation of the system, at least one 2D projection image is recorded. An image generation facility generates the 2D projection image from the measured data. The X-ray source includes an X-ray focus which can be changed in terms of position, which, during the recording of the 2D projection image, moves counter to the direction of rotation of the X-ray image system such that its spatial position in a fixed coordinate system does not change. The X-ray detector records several 2D partial images, from which the 2D projection image is calculated with the rotational movement of the X-ray detector being at least approximately compensated. The 2D projection images have significantly reduced image blur.

Apparatus for X-ray imaging for projection radiography and computed tomography, and method for X-ray imaging

A configuration and an associated operating method for tomosynthetic fluoroscopy utilize an x-ray emitter and with an x-ray detector. The configuration further contains a mounting device, which is rotatably mounted about a rotational axis and about which the x-ray emitter is arranged such that the optical axis of the x-ray emitter is directed to the x-ray detector and that, in the case of a rotation of the mounting device, the focus of the x-ray emitter describes a circular path. An advantage offered by the invention lies in ensuring robust tomosynthetic fluoroscopy.

Configuration and method for tomosynthetic fluoroscopy

3D reconstructions can be calculated from grayscale X-ray images taken at different angular positions of an X-ray source and detector rotatable about a common axis. In the present case, X-ray radiation is applied to the object to be imaged such that one half of the X-ray detector receives radiation which differs in one characteristic from the radiation received by the second half of the detector via the object. A kind of dual-energy imaging can then be carried out in a single pass through the angular positions, enabling two 3D reconstructions to be generated simultaneously and then merged.

Method for obtaining a 3D reconstruction of an object, and X-ray device

A method reconstructs a reconstruction data set containing virtual X-ray images of projection images of a target region recorded with an X-ray device. The projection images being recorded at different positions of an X-ray source along a scanning trajectory. The method includes defining an imaginary position of the X-ray source for each virtual X-ray image. For each virtual X-ray image and each pixel to be reconstructed in the X-ray image a virtual beam section, covering the target region, of the path between the imaginary position of the X-ray source and the pixel is defined. For each projection image, an integral is determined from the relationships between the forward projection and the filtered back-projection by re-parameterizing. A projection value of the virtual X-ray image from the integrals determined is combined.

Method for reconstructing a reconstruction data set containing two-dimensional virtual X-ray images

Artifacts result from unrecorded, stochastically distributed relative movements of a radiation source, radiation detector, and/or the object during a scanning process. The artifacts occur when a three-dimensional image dataset is reconstructed from two-dimensional projection images acquired from different projection directions. Geometric parameters describing an acquisition geometry for each projection image are taken into account during the reconstruction. The correction includes filtering the projection images to obtain a set of filtered first intermediate images. A set of second intermediate images are formed by filtering the projection images with a second filter. A three-dimensional reconstruction dataset is constructed from the filtered projection images filtered by way of the second filter, and forward projection is applied in the projection directions. Displacement information is determined for each projection direction by comparing the respective first intermediate image with the second intermediate image, and the geometric parameters are adjusted as a function of the displacement information.
