A system and method of measuring the continuous latency of a touch controller is presented. According to an exemplary embodiment, the method includes generating a detection signal in response to detecting touch reports from the touch controller indicating a change in input direction; capturing a sequence of image frames, each image frame depicting a contact point on the touch screen display and indicating a state of a detection signal; and determining a difference between a time twhen an actual change in input direction occurred and a time twhen the detection signal is generated, based on the image frames.

System and method of measuring continuous touch controller latency

A method of generating a mask overlay for a display corresponding to a touch path, the method including receiving touch path data including touch points corresponding to the touch path, generating vertex points of a vertex array corresponding to the touch points, generating a polygon for a set of the vertex points to define edges of the touch path, determining start and stop edges of the polygon for a row of pixels, generating a list of bin offset values corresponding to the row and including bin offsets for indicating the edges by incrementing a bin offset for each of the start edges, and by decrementing a subsequent bin offset for each of the stop edges, generating an accumulator value corresponding to each of the pixels, determining whether the accumulator values are greater than or equal to zero, and generating the mask overlay by determining whether respective accumulator values is greater than zero.

Vector fill segment method and apparatus to reduce display latency of touch events

A system includes: a touch path module to receive a plurality of touch events and to generate an output based on the touch events; and a rendering module to: receive a video image; receive the output of the touch path module; determine a plurality of points defining a boundary of a shape, the shape being determined based on the output of the touch path module; combine the video image with overlay data in accordance with the plurality of points to generate a combined display image; and output the combined display image.

A method of indicating a selected at least one of keys on a keyboard of a display device, the keyboard having a layout including a plurality of keys, the method including identifying the selected at least one of the keys based on a location of the selected at least one of the keys on the keyboard of the display device, updating a rendered video frame with a stored image of the selected at least one of the keys to generate an updated video frame indicating the selection of the at least one of the keys for displaying by the display device, the stored image of the selected at least one of the keys corresponding to the selected at least one of the keys, and while another video frame indicating the selection of the at least one of the keys is being rendered, displaying the updated video frame by the display device.

Method and apparatus to reduce display lag of soft keyboard presses

A system includes a touch path logic configured to receive a plurality of touch events and to generate an output based on the touch events; and a rendering logic configured to receive a video image; receive the output of the touch path logic; combine the video image with overlay data in accordance with the output of the touch path logic to generate a combined display image; and output the combined display image.
