Embodiments include an epicardial heart stimulator that includes a housing and electric components arranged in the housing. The electric components include a stimulation unit, a stimulation control unit, and at least one stimulation electrode on the housing. The stimulation electrode is connected to the stimulation unit and to the stimulation control unit. The stimulation unit provides electric energy that corresponds to a stimulation pulse and delivers the stimulation pulse via the stimulation electrode upon a corresponding trigger signal of the stimulation control unit. The epicardial heart stimulator includes a sensing electrode on the housing that senses electric potentials and that is electrically connected to a sensing unit in the housing. The sensing unit is connected to the stimulation control unit. The stimulation control unit, in a corresponding operating mode, controls the delivery of a respective trigger signal in accordance with an output signal of the sensing unit.

Epicardial heart stimulator

A therapeutic stimulator, e.g., a spinal neurostimulator for pain relief, adapts stimulation delivered to the patient in dependence on measurements of patient orientation (e.g., from a three-axis accelerometer), and also on impedance measurements from leads situated within or upon the patient's body (e.g., from electrodes on neurostimulation leads extending alongside the spine). Since the impedance measurements can provide additional data regarding body positioning, as well as providing data regarding electrode status (such as lead migration, electrode encapsulation, etc.), use of the impedance measurements can provide more refined (and more appropriate) control of delivered stimulation.

Posture-dependent stimulation for implantable stimulators

Accepts inputs via an input device and displays resulting power consumption for example in a color-coded format that enables a doctor or other programmer to observe how changes in one programming parameter affects power consumption. This enables the apparatus to accept input values and display the resulting power consumption that would occur if the input values were programmed into an implantable device in an intuitive graphical manner. In one or more embodiments programming parameters associated with power consumption may be set for electrical stimulation pulses, namely the voltage amplitude, the frequency of pulses per unit time and the pulse width of the pulses in units of time.

Method for graphical display and manipulation of program parameters on a clinical programmer for implanted devices and clinical programmer apparatus

A lead for use in Deep Brain Stimulation (DBS) and similar applications has a rigid lead tip with multiple electrodes thereon. The electrodes are formed by coating a lead tip core with a conductive material; selectively removing the conductive material to define the electrodes and conductive tracks leading therefrom; and then applying a layer of insulating material over the tracks to leave the electrodes exposed. Terminals are also left exposed on the tracks for connection to energy supply and/or data transmission lines. Such lines are preferably provided on or within a flexible lead body connected to the lead tip.

Multi-electrode leads for brain implantation

This invention relates to an electrically active implant with a plurality of energy-consuming components and an activation device designed to activate the implant. The electrically active implant is characterized by a deactivation device designed to deactivate the energy-consuming components of the implant, where the energy-consuming components of the implant can be deactivated during the implant's storage by means of the deactivation device, and, furthermore, characterized by a device for permanent storage of the implant-specific data.
