A stiffening arrangement () for a forward structure () of a motor vehicle has a mounting bracket () for mounting a motor vehicle radiator. A shear field () is connected to the mounting bracket () to dissipate shear forces. A right stiffening strut () connects the shear field () to a right suspension-strut dome () and supports the mounting bracket () on the right suspension-strut dome (), and a left stiffening strut () connects the shear field () to a left suspension-strut dome () and supports the mounting bracket () on the left suspension-strut dome (). Thus, a major part of the crumple zone of the forward structure () provided for a frontal crash can be utilized, so that the risk of damage to engine components in an engine bay of the forward structure () is reduced and vibrational comfort for the driver is improved.

Stiffening arrangement for a forward structure of a motor vehicle

A tunnel arrangement for a floor assembly of a vehicle body is proved. The floor assembly includes spaced apart first and second floor parts. A tunnel is arranged between the first and second floor parts and includes first and second flanges and front and rear tunnel sections extending between the first and second flanges. A tunnel bridge is provided on a lower surface of the tunnel for stiffening the tunnel arrangement.

A transverse strut has two arms arranged in a V-shaped manner, and a first connecting element connects the two arms facing end regions thereof and for fastening the transverse strut in the front end of a motor vehicle. Second and third connecting elements are provided respectively at distal end regions of the arms. The second and third connecting elements are connected to the respective arms and function for the connection of the transverse strut. The arms and the connecting elements are formed as extruded profiles and/or formed sheet metal parts.
