A method for manufacturing a solid electrode. To more strongly utilize the intrinsic properties of a porous active material with respect to capacitance and therefore energy density and also rate and high-current capability, in the method, porous active material particles are impregnated using an ion-conducting liquid which contains monomers and/or oligomers in particular and a solid electrode is formed from the impregnated active material particles by adding at least one solid electrolyte. In addition, the invention relates to such solid electrodes and all-solid-state cells.

The invention relates to a fuel cell system () having at least one or more fuel cells (), wherein the fuel cell () extends between a first cell end () and a second cell end () in a tubular shape, and wherein the fuel cell () is mechanically received with the first cell end () on an inflow distributor unit (), and wherein a fuel gas flows through the fuel cell (), the gas entering the first cell end () and exiting one of the cell ends () as exhaust gas. The subject of the present invention relates to a method and a protector for reducing degradation of fuel cell systems at transitions in operation, in particular at electrodes or catalysts in a combustion chamber of a stack of a PEM fuel cell system in startup and shutoff events of the fuel cell system. A switchable material delivery device is provided for varying a delivery of material to the fuel cell system, so that a transition from a first state of the fuel cell system to a second state of the fuel cell system can be initiated, such that a potential difference between different electrodes can be effected. At least one reducing mechanism is provided for reducing the potential difference between the different electrodes during the transition, in which the reducing mechanism includes at least one compensating device for an unequal gas distribution by reducing the proportions causing degradation, to reduce degradation. The compensation device includes at least one short-circuiting unit, with which the different electrodes can be short-circuited, in order to reduce the potential difference.

Method and device for improving the service life of a fuel cell at transitions in operation

A fuel cell cooling device has a cooling loop for circulating a coolant fluid. At least during the operation of the fuel cell, an ion extraction medium that is in the liquid state is provided. A method for cleaning a coolant with a corresponding fuel cell cooling device is provided as well.
