A 3D ultraviolet (UV) imaging LADAR system includes a UV source configured to generate a UV interrogation beam, a sensor configured to receive a UV return beam reflected from a target and to produce an electrical signal, and an imaging module coupled to the sensor and configured to receive the electrical signal and to generate a corresponding 3D image of the target. In one example, the sensor includes a down-shifting device configured to down-shift the UV return beam to a down-shifted light beam of a different wavelength, for example, in the visible or SWIR wavelength ranges.

Methods and apparatus for 3D UV imaging

In certain embodiments, a system for detecting an agent includes a resonator device configured to receive an agent. The resonator device is also configured to transmit light received from a light source, the transmitted light having an altered peak wavelength due to the presence of the received agent. The system further includes a filter device configured to filter the transmitted light having the altered peak wavelength such that the transmitted light having the altered peak wavelength does not reach one or more detectors of a detector array configured to receive transmitted light not filtered by the filter device. The system further includes a processing system operable to determine that the one or more detectors of the detector array are not generating a signal, the absence of the signal being generated by the one or more detectors of the detector array indicating the presence of the agent.

Optical device for detection of an agent

In certain embodiments, a system for detecting an agent includes a resonator device configured to receive an agent. The resonator device is additionally configured to transmit light received from a light source. The transmitted light has a known characteristic in the absence of the received agent and an altered characteristic in the presence of the received agent. The system further include a lens positioned between the resonator device and a detector array. The lens is configured to focus the transmitted light onto one or more detectors of the detector array, the one or more detectors of the detector array operable to generate a signal corresponding to the transmitted light. The system further includes a processing system operable to determine whether the agent is present based on the signal generated by the one or more detectors of the detector array.

An imaging system for receiving data from a scene and displaying an image therefrom includes a detector and a display. The detector includes a plurality of detector pixels on a first side of the detector, readout circuitry on an opposing second side of the detector or between the detector and the detector pixels on the first side of the detector, and a plurality of detector vias configured to provide electrical connectivity for the plurality of detector pixels through the detector. The display includes a plurality of display pixels on one side of the display, read in circuitry on an opposing second side of the display or between the display and the display pixels on the first side of the display, and a plurality of display vias configured to provide electrical connectivity for the plurality of display pixels through the display. The read in circuitry is coupled with the readout circuitry.

Integrated detection and display imaging system and method

In certain embodiments, an apparatus for down-converting and detecting photons includes a detector layer and a nanocrystal layer. The nanocrystal layer includes nanocrystals operable to absorb first photons of a higher energy and emit second photons of a lower energy in response to the absorption. The detector layer is configured to detect the second photons. In certain embodiments, a method for manufacturing an apparatus for down-converting and detecting photons includes preparing an outer surface of a substrate. Nanocrystals are disposed outwardly from the outer surface. The nanocrystals are operable to absorb first photons of a higher energy and emit second photons of a lower energy in response to the absorption.

Down-converting and detecting photons

An agent sensing system may comprise an emitter optical resonator, a functionalized optical resonator, and a reference optical resonator. The emitter optical resonator may be configured to emit light at one or more system peak wavelengths. The functionalized optical resonator may be optically coupled to the emitter optical resonator and configured to propagate the emitted light in the absence of a particular agent, and filter the emitted light in the presence of the particular agent. The reference optical resonator may be optically coupled to at least one of the emitter optical resonator and the functionalized optical resonator such that an intensity of light propagated by the reference optical resonator is based at least on whether light emitted by the emitter optical resonator is filtered or propagated by the functionalized optical resonator.

Optical device for detection of agent

A child assist rail and support system is disclosed which is adapted for attachment to an existing or new handrail at a stairway. The child assist rail and support system includes a plurality of suspension elements and a strap associated with each suspension element. The strap is adapted to suspend the associated suspension element below the handrail. The strap is further adapted to position a first end of its associated suspension element proximate to said handrail of the stairway. There is an auxiliary rail positioned at a second end of each of the suspension elements. The strap is also operative to maintain the auxiliary rail in a proximate position with respect to the second end of each of the suspension elements. There is a locking element operative with the strap of each of the suspension elements. The locking element is operative with the strap and the suspension element for maintaining the auxiliary rail in a substantially stationery position with respect to the handrail of the stairway.
