Embodiments described herein are directed to generating physical three-dimensional color-accurate objects based on a 3D computer-based color model using printed layers of media. Embodiments can slice a 3D computer-based color model into 3D cross-sectional components, which retain the color information of the model. The 3D cross-sectional segments can be converted into 2D page images and the color information can be included in a plan image corresponding to the cross-sectional segments. Embodiments can print the page images to form cross-sectional prints which can be layered and trimmed to shape the prints into a color accurate physical object that represents the model.

Media-based system for forming three-dimensional objects

With a cleaning system/method, a user places a printing device in a cleaning mode, inserts a cleaning apparatus that includes a cleaning sheet into a paper supply tray of the printing device, and executes a cleaning operation on the printing device. With the system, a set of instructions is stored on a machine-readable medium. The set of instructions causes the printing device to execute a cleaning operation on a feed nip of the printing device. The cleaning sheet cleans the feed roller and the retard roller when it is positioned within the feed nip during the cleaning operation. The set of instructions cause the printing device to move the cleaning sheet into the feed nip and to rotate the feed roller and the retard roller for a predetermined time period, when the printing device is placed into a cleaning mode.

Cleaning structure and method for friction roll feeders

Provided herein is sheet inverter apparatus which includes a diverter gate which diverts the sheet to one of at least two paths, a first paper path, and a second paper path. The first and second path each include a rotatable nip assembly, the rotatable nip assembly including a nip drive roll and a nip idler roll positioned so as to define a nip therebetween, the nip serving as a rotatable axis around which the nip drive roll and the nip idler roll rotate to invert the sheet.

Dual flip over roll inverter

A system that avoids any stopping or reversing of the web direction in a continuous feed printer, instead maintaining consistent process speed, only requiring a slowing and speeding up of the web to cycle through the PR belt seam. This is done by forming a web loop and then immediately flattening the loop after passage of the seam through the transfer zone that includes two transfer BTR rolls with alternating transfer operations, but simultaneous transfer for short periods. Two vacuum assist rolls, one located between the two bias transfer rolls controls the formation of the web loop. A pair of nip forming rolls upstream of the first transfer station and a second vacuum assist roll downstream of the second transfer station control the size of the loop.

Simplified belt seam skip in continuous web feed machines

A sheet inverter apparatus improves the handling capabilities of high speed printers and copiers. The sheet inverter apparatus includes a rotatable support having an axis of rotation and at least first and second arms radiating outwardly from the axis of rotation. First and second nip assemblies are is mounted to the first and second arms respectively. The support is rotatable to adjust positions of the first and second nips about the axis of rotation. Advantageously, with this arrangement, the support is adjustable so as to permit the first and second nips to receive sheets of paper at one location, be positionally adjusted with the sheets of paper moving therewith, and located at a second location so as to deliver the paper to an outlet feed path. This positional adjustment allows for inversion of the paper.

Multiple nip inverter

An apparatus includes a photoreceptor belt, a fixed transfer roller positioned on the inside of the photoreceptor belt, and a movable transfer roller positioned on the outside of the photoreceptor belt. The fixed transfer roller and the movable transfer roller are positioned to form a nip, and the photoreceptor belt and a web of print media are positioned in the nip. Also, a support roller and a compensation roller contact the web of print media. The support roller is positioned between the compensation roller and the nip. A physical link is connected to the support roller and the compensation roller. The physical link moves the support roller and the compensation roller so as to keep a constant tension on the web of print media.

Systems and a method for image forming systems to skip over the non-printing photoreceptor area in order to not skip a label position on a continuous print web medium. A vacuum assembly is coupled to a controller that controls different vacuum pressures at each vacuum roller therein. The vacuum rollers provide drag and drive forces to skip a seam of the photoreceptor and a residual length based on the number and size of images on the photoreceptor.

A dual path, single reversing roll inverter driven by a single actuator includes a single reversing roller with two, diametrically opposed idler rollers. The configuration of the reversing roller and idler rollers forms a first nip and a second nip that are alternately used to accept sequential sheets from a paper path. The first and second nips discharge the sheets into respective first and second inverting paths. A method for inverting sheets using the dual path, single reversing roll inverter includes rotating the roller in a first direction to direct a first sheet through the first nip. The roller is then rotated in a second direction opposite the first direction to direct the first sheet from the first nip and into the first inverting path and to simultaneously direct a second sheet into the second nip. A gate alternately directs the sequential sheets into the first and second nips.

Device and method for high-speed media inversion using a dual path, single reversing roll inverter

An inkjet printing system includes a sensor positioned proximate a media transport path in an inkjet printing system, the sensor being configured to detect a media height exceeding a predetermined height with reference to the media transport path, and a controller associated with the inkjet printing system, the controller being configured to modify operation of the inkjet printing system in response to the sensor detecting a media height exceeding the predetermined height.

A vacuum transport includes a segmented, rigid or solid articulated belt combined with a vacuum plenum in each segment of the belt. Using a rigid segmented belt with a vacuum plenum connected to each segmented belt section eliminates ordinarily encountered drag friction in conventional vacuum transports by reducing the force necessary to move the belt with media thereon while simultaneously improving the motion quality of the move by driving the articulated rigid belt from the top side of the belt in a flat section.

An apparatus comprises a belt and a pressure roll contacting the belt. The pressure roll comprises at least two roll segments connected to a common axle and contacting the belt. The roll segments are offset from one another along the belt.

Angled pressure roll used with vacuum belts

A drive module for a photoreceptor in an electrophotographic printing machine. The drive module has retractable features that allow the insertion and removal of the xerographic CRU without causing damage to the photoreceptor and other critical subsystems. The unit further has many locating members for other subsystems so that critical tolerances are maintained. A single handle assembly retracts/unlocks and extends/locks the drive module and the associated CRU subsystems into an operative position. The drive module also has electrical and drive connections for the cleaning system, the charging system and transfer/detack.

Photoreceptor drive module

A developer backer bar having a surface having a plurality of radii for interfacing with a noncontact developer member. The backer bar is arranged so that it can be retracted for clearance purposes when removing or inserting a xerographic CRU. Upon installation of the CRU, the backer bar is biased into position to maintain a development zone within predetermined parameters. The multiple radii surface eliminates or minimizes errors that may result from slight variations in axial alignment between the backer bar and the developer member while additionally providing low drag forces on the photoreceptor.
