An inner contact for a coaxial connector includes: an elongate, generally cylindrical body having a longitudinal axis and first and second opposed ends; and a plurality of spring fingers extending from the first end of the body generally parallel to the longitudinal axis, each of the spring fingers having a projection extending radially inwardly from a free end thereof. Each spring finger is separated from each of its immediately adjacent spring fingers by a slot. Each of the projections has opposed side edge portions, and wherein the side edge portions incline with increasing distance from an adjacent slot.

Aspects of the present disclosure relate to providing cable assemblies for cellular base stations having remote radio head units located atop a radio tower. Each installation requires near-custom cabling, as the electrical resistance of the conductors of the cable assembly varies based on the length of the cable assembly, and because different operators and local governments require different color-coding of the conductors which are coupled to the power trunk. Accordingly, a power distribution system is provided herein wherein conductors of a trunk cable may be coupled to power jumper conductors at transitions. The transitions are generally cylindrical and comprise channels into which splicing lugs are seated. The conductors may be electrically coupled together and secured via set screws. Manufacturing costs may be reduced, as common configurations of trunk cables may be manufactured in higher quantity and coupled to power jumper conductors according to local requirements.

A method of forming a solder joint between a coaxial cable and a coaxial connector includes the steps of: positioning a solder element between an end of an outer conductor of the coaxial cable and a connector body of the connector, wherein the solder element is positioned within a vacuum chamber; melting the solder element to form a solder joint between the outer conductor and the connector body, the solder joint including a lower surface formed by contact with a mounting structure; and applying suction to the melting solder element to reduce the formation of bubbles within the solder joint.

Method and apparatus for forming interface between coaxial cable and connector

An electrical cable has a plurality of generally rectangular cross-section conductors superposed in a stack, the stack surrounded by a polymer jacket. The stack may be provided with a lubrication layer provided between at least two of the conductors. Conductors of the stack may have a thickness that is greater proximate the middle of the stack than at the top and bottom of the stack and/or a width that is less at the top and the bottom than at the middle. Further stacks may also be provided parallel and coplanar with the first stack, also surrounded by the polymer jacket.

A method of forming a joint between a coaxial cable and, a coaxial connector includes the steps of: preparing a cable having an inner conductor, a dielectric, a corrugated outer conductor surrounding the dielectric layer, and a jacket such that an end of the inner conductor is exposed, an end of the outer conductor is exposed arid is flattened to form a ring devoid of corrugations, and a portion of the dielectric layer is cored out to form a solder chamber between the inner conductor and the ring of the outer conductor; preparing an assembly comprising a coaxial connector comprising an inner contact, a dielectric spacer, and an outer conductor body having a tail, with a solder preform encircling the tail; inserting the tail and solder preform into the solder chamber; and melting the solder preform to create a joint between the ring and the tail.

A back body for a cable-connector assembly includes: an annular central portion; an annular mating portion that merges with one end of the central portion and is configured to mate with an outer conductor extension of a coaxial connector; and a plurality of fingers that extend axially from an opposite end of the central portion, the fingers being configured to flex inwardly to engage a jacket of a coaxial cable. The central portion, the mating portion, and the fingers define a bore configured to receive the coaxial cable. A radial clamp is configured to apply radially-inwardly directed pressure to the fingers.
