A heating tape comprises an insulated heating element that includes a heating element layer comprising a polymer composite having conductive particles and at least one set of conductive electrodes at least partially embedded in the polymer composite and extending along at least a substantial portion of the length of the heating tape. A heating tape system for a pipe or other surface, further includes a power ramp controller having a solid state relay component to regulate an in-rush of current to the heating element. The heating tape system also includes a connector having multiple contact points.

A one-part curable epoxy adhesive composition is provided. The adhesive comprises curable epoxy resin, a latent curative system comprising (a) at least one first curative encapsulated in thermoplastic polymeric microcapsules and (b) a second latent curative admixed in the curable epoxy resin, and sufficient particulate thermoplastic polymeric material to at least partially regionally plasticize the cured epoxy resin wherein up to all of the particulate thermoplastic polymeric material may be provided by the walls of the microcapsules. The present invention provides a method of limiting the presence of a microorganism by contacting the microorganism with polymer-bound metal-containing compositions. The compositions include metal-containing compounds that may be prepared by reacting or polymerizing metal-containing monomers. The microorganism may be present in a liquid that is contacted with the polymer-bound metal-containing composition. Alternatively, the microorganism may be present in a solid that is contacted with the polymer-bound metal-containing composition.
