The invention relates to articles with a non-stick coating. It relates in particular to an article consisting of a substrate whose surface has -OH groups, and of at least one non-stick polymer layer, said article having also, applied between said substrate and said non-stick polymer layer, a layer which is obtained by making an appropriate bifunctional organosilane react with a polyamic-acid precursor of polyamide-imide and with -OH groups of the substrate surface, then drying and converting said polyamic-acid into a polyamide-imide by heating at an appropriately high temperature. The invention also provides processes and compositions to make non-stick glass and glass-ceramic cookware having clear, vivid, brilliant, attractive colors and stable and durable decorating patterns. Said coloring is achieved by precoating the substrate surface with a polyimide resin containing colored pigment, and preferably, an organosilane.

Non-stick coatings on glass

This invention is concerned with a method for preparing transparent laminated polarizing glass articles consisting of a support of an inorganic or organic glass, a coating exhibiting polarizing properties disposed on one of the surfaces of the support, and an optically transparent layer adhered to the coating which protects the coating from humidity. The vital feature of the method comprises a first treatment by a gamma-aminopropyltrialkoxysilane and a second treatment by an epoxyalkyltrialkoxysilane which is designed to improve the adherence of the optically transparent layer to the polarizing coating. The invention is especially useful in the fabrication of eyeglass lenses.

Transparent laminated polarizing glasses

This invention concerns an improved method for fabricating transparent laminated polarizing glasses consisting of a substrate of inorganic or organic glass, a coating of polarizing properties deposited upon one surface of the substrate, and an integral, optically transparent composite film consisting, on the one hand, of one lamina of thermoplastic polyurethane of adhesive properties, and, on the other hand, of one lamina of thermosetting polyurethane of anti-lacerative and self-regenerating properties; the thermoplastic polyurethane ply adhering to the polarizing coating. The method comprises applying the polarizing coating to the substrate, then treating at least the coated surface of the substrate with a aqueous solution containing .gamma.-aminopropyltrimethoxysilane or .gamma.-aminopropyltriethoxysilane, and thereafter applying said composite film.

Method of making transparent polarizing laminated glasses

A method of tinting a sheet of transparent polyurethane comprising a coloring operation followed by a fixation operation. The aforesaid coloring operation is carried out through immersion of the polyurethane into a bath maintained under continuous agitation and formed of a dispersion of one or several colorants in an aqueous solution containing a surfactant or wetting agent, while the aforesaid fixation operation is carried out through rinsing in a boiling aqueous solution of sodium alkyl sulfonate of the type known under the mark 'Teepol'. The application to a double or composite sheet preformed to a thin laminate, that is to say, one layer of a thermoplastic polyurethane and one other layer of a thermosetting polyurethane. In a particularly useful embodiment of the invention the tinted polyurethane serves as a selective filter having almost zero transmission in the so-called cutoff range of wavelengths lying between about 350-560 nm. Eyeglasses made from such lenses are useful for victims of aphakia and retinitis pigmentosa.
