The present invention relates to a composition containing, besides a thermosetting resin of epoxy type and a hardener of anhydride type, at least one catalyst comprising an organometallic titanium complex. This composition enables the manufacture of vitrimer resins, that is to say resins that can be deformed in the thermoset state. It also relates to a kit for manufacturing this composition, an object obtained from this composition and a kit for manufacturing this object. Another subject of the invention relates to an organometallic titanium complex corresponding to the structure titanium bis(3-phenoxy-1,2-propane dioxide) (Ti(PPD)), and the use thereof as vitrimer effect catalyst in systems based on epoxy resin and on hardener of anhydride type.

A mixture may include at least one polymerizable species and at least one thermoresponsive supramolecular initiator complex involving a host-guest interaction. Processes for making resins may include mixing at least one polymerizable species with at least one thermoresponsive supramolecular initiator complex involving a host-guest interaction; subjecting the mixture to a temperature above about 30&#xb0; C. thereby promoting the dissociation of the at least one thermoresponsive supramolecular initiator; and allowing the mixture to cure at the temperature for a period of time.

Semi-crystalline supramolecular polymers

A polymeric material from the styrene family comprises macromolecular chains grafted by nitrogen-containing heterocyclic groups; wherein the macromolecular chains comprise a polymeric backbone to which a grafted agent is attached by at least one covalent bond, the grafting agent comprises, in a single molecule, one or more associative groups capable of being bound by hydrogen bonds, and one or more reactive groups capable of forming covalent bonds with the polymeric backbone, at least one of the associative groups of the modifier is an imidazolidone heterocyclic ring. The mean number of imidazolidone groups to be inserted into the macromolecular chains is dependent both on the mean mass of said chains and on the final properties to be imparted to the material. Objects such as tubes, films, plates, stiffeners, bottles and containers can be made.

Styrene/anhydride polymeric material and graft having enhanced properties

The present invention relates to a method for synthesizing a supramolecular material comprising: 1&#x2014;the reaction of at least one carboxylic diacid, or ester or chloride of such a diacid, with, on the one hand, at least one modifier compound bearing both reactive functional groups capable of reacting with the carboxylic acid, ester or acid chloride functional groups and associative groups capable of associating with one another by hydrogen bonds, in a molar ratio of the reactive functional groups to the carboxylic acid, ester or acid chloride functional groups of between 0.10 and 0.50, and, on the other hand, at least one polyamine, said reactions being carried out successively or simultaneously, and 2&#x2014;the reaction of the polyamide obtained at the end of step 1 with urea. The present invention also relates to the resulting material, and also to the uses thereof.

Method for synthesizing supramolecular materials

The invention concerns a polymer material consisting of macromolecular chains bound by hydrogen bonds, wherein: the macromolecular chains consist of a polymer skeleton whereon is fixed by at least one covalent bond a modifying agent, the modifying agent comprising, assembled in a common molecule, one or more associative groups capable of being bound by hydrogen bonds and one or more reactive groups capable of forming covalent bonds with the polymer skeleton, at least one of the associative groups of the modifying agent is an imidazolidone heterocycle, the macromolecular chains bear on average, 1 to 10 imidazolidone groups per chain. The average number of imidazolidone groups to be introduced into the macromolecular chains depends both on the average mass of said chains and the final properties desired for the material.

A polymeric material from the styrene family, consisting of macromolecular chains grafted by nitrogen-containing heterocyclic groups; wherein the macromolecular chains consist of a polymeric backbone to which a grafted agent is attached by at least one covalent bond, the grafting agent comprises, in a single molecule, one or more associative groups capable of being bound by hydrogen bonds, and one or more reactive groups capable of forming covalent bonds with the polymeric backbone, at least one of the associative groups of the modifier is an imidazolidone heterocyclic ring. The polymeric material of the invention can also be blended with other materials such as other polymers, and can thus be modified by elastomeric phases that enhance the impact strength thereof.

The present invention relates to materials exhibiting the property of rubbery elasticity, consisting of molecules with a mass of between 9 and 9000 g/mol, all or some of the molecules having at least three groups (also referred to as 'associative groups') capable of associating via non-covalent interactions. Although consisting of small non-polymerized molecules that are not chemically crosslinked, this material exhibits properties of rubbery elasticity. According to an embodiment of the invention, this material exhibits rubbery elasticity at ambient temperature. Above a certain temperature, the material flows like a simple liquid. The material is thermoreversible, i.e. after cooling, the material again exhibits the property of rubbery elasticity. This material is self-repairing and potentially recyclable, which is never the case with a chemically crosslinked elastomer. According to an embodiment of the invention, the molecules constituting the material of the invention bear associative groups of formula (1) below: in which A denotes oxygen, sulphur or NH; the carbon atoms of formula (1) can be substituted. Preferably, A denotes oxygen. Advantageously, the material comprises (i) molecules having at least 3 associative groups, and (ii) molecules having a single associative group. Advantageously, the molecules are obtained from fatty acid derivatives.

Elastic materials

The invention relates to a supramolecular polymer containing units which are linked by hydrogen bonds, said units being monomers of prepolymers comprising at least one functional group selected from the functional groups (1) and (3) and a second functional group (5) wherein A denotes oxygen, sulphur or NH and X is any unit; the hydrogen bonds in the supramolecular polymer being formed between two identical or different functional groups chosen from the functional groups (1) to (5). The inventive polymers can be used alone, i.e. in the form of a composition which is essentially made from said polymers and, optionally, stabilizers, antioxidants, etc. or in the form of a mixture with other polymers or other products.
