It is provided a control device for controlling an energy storage system having an energy storage device, a bidirectional AC/DC converter and a grid connection to an electrical power distribution grid. The control device includes: a processor; an external memory interface for reading external instructions from an external removable memory device; a control interface for controlling the energy storage system; and an internal memory. The internal memory stores internal instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the control device to provide access to the control interface for external instructions, read from the external removable memory device, when the external instructions are executed by the processor.

The multi-layered dielectric polymer material may comprise a plurality of dielectric layers wherein the plurality of dielectric layers may comprise an identical base material. The base material may be compound with agents for at least one of the plurality of dielectric layers. It may overcome compatible issues for convention multi-layered material. The dielectric polymer material may have increased dielectric strength and excellent thermal properties.

A protection element for a capacitor with self-healing properties has a membrane for activating a current interruption element when a gas, produced when a self-healing operation occurs within the capacitor, exerts a pressure on the membrane, the current interruption element being connected in series with an electrode of the capacitor, the current interruption element interrupting an electrical current flowing towards the electrode when the pressure is exerted on the membrane, and the current interruption element being operationally engaged with a temperature sensitive member that reacts, when sensing a temperature above a predetermined value, in a manner to operate the current interruption element.
