Described herein is a polyamide composition (P) including specific flat glass fibres (B) with elongated shape having a non-circular cross-sectional area. The polyamide composition (P) is advantageously used for the production of molded parts. Also described herein is a method of using molded parts obtainable by molding of the polyamide composition (P) to produce mechanical parts. The molded parts are characterized by having improved fatigue resistance properties. Also described herein is a polyamide composition (P) including PA 6.6 as polyamide (A) and flat glass fibres (B).

Described herein is a composition including a) at least one co-polyamide including caprolactam monomer or the corresponding amino acid, at least one aromatic diacid co-monomer and at least one cycloaliphatic diamine co-monomer; b) at least one semi-crystalline polyamide; and c) at least one reinforcing filler. The a) at least one co-polyamide has a crystallization temperature (T) of 150&#xb0; C. or less and the difference between the melting temperature (T) and Tof 50&#xb0; C. or more.

The invention relates to a method for producing a tank having high fluid-barrier properties. According to the invention, a specific polyamide composition containing impact-resistance modifying agents is used in a first step to produce components by means of injection moulding and, subsequently, said components are assembled in order to obtain the tank. The viscosity and gasoline permeability of the polyamide composition are sufficient to allow the production of tanks that provide an excellent trade-off between fluid-barrier properties and mechanical properties.

Process for the manufacture of tanks having high barrier properties toward fluids

The present invention relates to a gas storage tank, for storing gas, especially CNG, methane and/or hydrogen, said tank comprising a liner comprising a high-viscosity polyamide composition comprising a branched polyamide and an impact modifier, and to a process for manufacturing said the tank. More particularly, the composition comprises a copolyamide of the random tree type resulting from the reaction between a multifunctional monomer comprising at least three reactive functions to form an amide function, these functions being of two different types, difunctional monomers conventionally used in the manufacture of linear polyamides, and optionally difunctional monomers.

A polyamide composition is described that is stabilized with respect to heat. The composition can have a polyhydric alcohol-based stabilization system that is excellent in maintaining mechanical properties after exposure to heat. Also described, is a process for producing these compositions, and the use of these compositions for making various articles.

Heat-stabilized polyamide composition

A polyamide modified by a multi-functional compound, and a method for producing said polyamide and compositions comprising same are described. A method for the production of a polyamide comprising linear macromolecular chains and star-shaped macromolecular chains is also described. A resulting polyamide having optimal mechanical and rheological properties in order to (i) improve mould filling speed and quality, and (ii) produce moldable compositions with high filler contents is also described.

High-flow polyamides

The invention concerns a multilayer structure based on polyamides, particularly suitable for making tubes or conduits for transporting liquid fluids such as alcohol's, liquid fuels, fuel containing oxygen-containing compounds such as, for example alcohol's or refrigerating fluids. The multilayer structure comprises two superposed layers: at least one internal layer and at least one external layer. The invention is characterized in that at least the internal layer is based a composition comprising at least one thermoplastic polyamide and at least one agent modifying resistance to shocks in a weight proportion between 10 and 50% of said composition, and at least the external layer is based on a composition containing as polymeric matrix a polyamide composition selected among the group comprising: (i) a thermoplastic copolymer obtained by copolymerization of &#x3b5;-caprolactam with at least one of the monomers selected among the group comprising: an aminoacid containing at least 9 carbon atoms, or the corresponding lactam, a mixture of hexamethylenediamine with a diacid comprising at least 9 carbon atoms, the weight ratio between the &#x3b5;-caprolactam and the total hexamethylenediamine and diacid and/or aminoacid ranging between 4 and 9, or (ii) a mixture of at least said thermoplastic copolymer and at least a second thermoplastic polyamide or copolyamide obtained by polymerization of monomers containing less than 9 carbon atoms. The weight content of the second polymer or copolymer in the polymeric matrix is between 0 and 80 wt. %, preferably between 0 and 40 wt. %. The multilayer structure has high barrier properties against fuel vapor and good mechanical properties such as good resistance to cracking.

The invention concerns polyamides modified by a multifunctional compound. Finished articles formed from said polyamides or from compositions based on said polyamides exhibit excellent mechanical properties, and a very good surface appearance. The modified polyamide is obtained by mixing in melted form a polyamide and a polyamide macromolecular compound comprising star-shaped or H-shaped macromolecular chains.

The invention concerns copolyamides obtained by using multifunctional monomers. It consists in using a multifunctional monomer comprising at least three reactive functions and at least another multifunctional monomer, in amounts such that the terminal group concentrations are balanced. The copolyamides are particularly high viscosity copolyamides. The invention also concerns compositions based on said copolyamides.

Copolyamides and compositions based on same

The invention concerns copolyamides obtained by using multifunctional monomers. It consists in using at least one multifunctional monomer comprising at least three reactive functions and at least another multifunctional monomer, in amounts such that the terminal group concentrations are balanced. The copolyamides are more particularly high viscosity copolyamides. The invention also concerns compositions based on said copolyamides.

The invention concerns a thermoplastic copolyamide and composition comprising as matrix said thermoplastic copolyamide, and a method of making such thermoplastic copolyamide. More particularly it concerns a copolyamide of the statistical tree type resulting from the reaction between a plurifunctional monomer comprising at least three reactive functions to form an amide function, said functions being two different types, and bifunctional monomer conventionally used in making linear polyamides. The resulting copolyamide has a very low softness index in molten state compared to the linear polyamide and improved shock-resistant properties. The invention also concerns with methods for making these copolyamides and composition for molding, extruding or injecting parts. Said compositions comprise fillers and additives and said copolyamide as a matrix.

Thermoplastic copolyamide, composition based thereon

The invention relates to modified polyamides, and more particularly to polyamides containing units of the type obtained by reacting a diacid with a diamine, modified with a multifunctional compound. The finished articles shaped from these polyamides or from compositions based on these polyamides have excellent mechanical properties and also a very good surface aspect. The modified polyamide according to the invention is obtained by melt-blending polyamides of different natures, in the presence of a multifunctional compound.

Modified polyamides, polyamide compositions, and method for making same

Flameproofed polyamide compositions well suited for the production of molded shaped articles, for example those useful in the electrical and electronics fields, such as components for circuit breakers, switches and connectors, comprise a polyamide matrix having an effective flameproofing amount of a flame-/fire-retardation system distributed therethrough, the flame-/fire-retardation system including both a melamine derivative and a molybdenum compound, but, advantageously, no halogen and/or phosphorus flameproofing species.

Flame-retardant polyamide molding compositions

The invention concerns a polyamide comprising macromolecular chains having a star-shaped configuration, a method for making said polyamide and compositions comprising same. More particularly, the invention concerns a method for making a polyamide comprising linear macromolecular chains and star-shaped macromolecular chains with control of the star-shaped chain concentration in the polymer. Said control is obtained by using besides the polyfunctional polymers and amino acids or lactams a polyfunctional comonomer comprising either acid functions or amine functions. The resulting polyamide has optimal mechanical and rheological properties for improving the speed and quality of mould filling and producing mouldable compositions comprising high filler factors.

The invention concerns a flame-proofed polyamide composition to be used in particular for making moulded objects. The composition comprises a flame-proofing system consisting of a melamine derivative and a mineral filler consisting of calcined kaolin and is particularly useful for making moulded electrical objects.
