A folding unit for producing packages from sealed packs comprises an endless conveyor carrying a plurality of paddles arranged for moving said packs along an advancement direction and fold said packs into formed packages, each paddle having a first surface intended to interact with a first pack to form a portion of a corresponding first package and a second surface intended to interact with a second pack to form a portion of a corresponding second package, said folding unit further comprises releasable connecting elements arranged for releasably connecting said paddles to said endless conveyor.

A forming member for controlling the volume of packages of pourable food products formed from a tube of packaging material and sealed at a number of sections of the tube crosswise to an axis of the tube; the forming member having: a main wall which cooperates cyclically with a first portion of the tube extending between two consecutive sections; and at least one flap extending alongside the wall. Member and method for forming sealed packages of pourable food products from a tube of packaging material

A folding unit for producing packages of pourable food products from sealed packs having at least one projecting foldable end tab. At least one conveying member cyclically receives a relative pack, by the end corresponding to the tab, and feeds the pack along a forming path crosswise in the axis of the pack. A folding mechanism having an impact surface receives each pack by the end corresponding to the tab, and is carried by the conveying member to move between a first operating position, in which the impact surface forms, with the feed direction of the relative pack, an angle of over 90&#xb0; and open in the direction of the forming path, to fold the relative tab, upon impact, onto the pack in the traveling direction of the pack, and a second operating position, in which the impact surface is rotated towards and cooperates with the pack.

Pump units comprising a metering reciprocating pump with adjustable length of stroke are used in packing machines for filling of packing containers with a metered quantity of flowable contents, e.g. yogurt. Adjustments in the length of stroke in order to adapt the amount of filling goods to the volume of the packing container interferes with the breaking sequence at the extreme position of the piston and alters the time for each pumping stroke. These drawbacks are avoided by means of an arrangement which includes a movable braking device for the piston as well as a valve arrangement which is linked to the braking device and serves to adapt the speed of the piston to the length of stroke.

Arrangement on a pump unit

A piston unit is disclosed which includes a pressure-compensating device wherein pressure variations in a product line are dampened by subjecting a side of the piston (6) remote from the product line (5) to a variable air pressure. Rolling membranes (7,8) are positioned on both sides of the piston and enclose between them a chamber (13) which is connected to a source of vacuum (14) so as to secure contact of the membranes with the piston. The vacuum is distributed in the chamber (13) with the help of a vacuum line (15) with enlarged outlet area, and is distributed over the end faces of the piston (6) by way of a network of ducts (19,20) in the piston.
