A device for moving a piston inside a cartridge having a cartridge body and the piston displaceable along a longitudinal axis of the cartridge body is presented. The device comprises a first portion having first coupler for coupling the cartridge body to the first portion such that in both directions of the longitudinal axis, a connection exists between the cartridge body and the first portion; and a second portion having second coupler for coupling the piston to the second portion such that in both directions of the longitudinal axis, a connection exists between the piston and the second portion. The first and second portions move relative to each other to effect at least a forward displacement of the piston coupled to the second portion inside the cartridge body coupled to the first portion along the longitudinal axis. The second coupler establishes and releases the connection with the piston.

Device for moving a piston inside a cartridge

An alignment device for coupling a liquid drug cartridge with a longitudinal cartridge axis and a constricted neck portion with a cap and a piercable septum distal from the neck portion with an adapter is presented. The septum is perpendicular to the cartridge axis. The device comprises an adapter cannula with a longitudinal cannula axis to pierce the septum and a proximal cartridge engagement structure for axial aligned engagement with a distal end section of cartridge body. The device further comprises a distal adapter engagement structure for axial aligned engagement with the adapter. A coupling of the cartridge with the adapter is enabled via the alignment device. The adapter and the cartridge are, during the coupling, aligned by the cartridge engagement structure and the adapter engagement structure, respectively relative to each other such that the longitudinal cartridge axis and the longitudinal cannula axis form a common longitudinal axis.

In one embodiment, a method of filling a container with a liquid drug from a drug reservoir may include: a) connecting a container and a drug reservoir with a cannula such that the drug reservoir and the container fluidically communicate with each other via the cannula, while being hermetically sealed; b) reducing a first volume contained within the container to displace a gaseous medium from the first volume of the container via the cannula into a second volume contained within the drug reservoir; c) increasing the first volume of the container to displace the liquid drug from the second volume of the drug reservoir into the first volume of the container to fill the container; and d) disconnecting the container and the drug reservoir. Before performing action d), action b) and action c) can be successively performed more than once to stepwise increase an amount of liquid drug displaced.

Apparatuses, systems, and methods for filling a container with a liquid drug

Included are embodiments of an infusion set for administering a liquid. One embodiment includes an infusion head to be placed on the tissue of a patient, a coupler for connecting the infusion head to an administering device, and a cannula that is configured for connection to the infusion head. Some embodiments include a display device for displaying an application period of at least a portion of the liquid administered using the infusion set.

Dichroic mixtures

An optical component contains two or more hidden images for authentication and antiforgery purposes. The images are successively revealed and concealed when the optical component is held between two polarisers and one of them is rotated. The optical component comprises one or more optical retarder(s) in which the images are embedded in separate adjacent stripes or areas, each image being associated with a different mode of interaction with polarised light. Instead of two polarisers, one will suffice if the component is mounted on a reflector.

Optical component

A method for manufacturing a structured optical device () starts with a substrate (), on which is coated an alignment layer () and a liquid crystal polymer network layer (). One of these layers can be created as a coating using a conventional technique. The other layer, either in a first step the alignment layer or in a second step the liquid crystal polymer network layer, is jet printed. The invention advantageously enables the making of a patterned liquid crystal polymer network which can be personalized upon manufacturing.

In order to provide comprehensive and multi-purpose security, an optical security device is provided that comprises a substrate and at least a first optically structured layer. The optical security device may provide first, second and third optical inspection levels, including a first inspection level where an optical effect can be discerned with the naked eye, a second level in which an object can be discerned with the aid of an optical inspection tool, and a third level in which an encrypted object can be discerned with a decrypting optical inspection tool. The first layer may be constructed as a retarder plate of LCP material, having an array of elemental areas with different predetermined orientations.

Optical security device

An optical component in the form of an identification element (such as for counterfeit protection or copy protection) includes an optically anisotropic layer comprising regions of different optical axes that is arranged over a reflector. The anisotropic layer may be implemented with a liquid crystal polymer in which the orientation of the liquid crystals is different in different areas. Such an orientation pattern is initially hidden from a viewer, but becomes visible by means of an additional polariser. To improve the visual appearance of the identification element, a white light hologram may be used for the reflector.
