A method for preparing an infusion beverage is disclosed wherein a dried infusion substance is applied in an infusion container, the latter being present, in the first instance, in a collapsed state and being extendable into an expanded state, An infusion liquid is introduced into the infusion container, wherein the infusion container is expanded. The dried infusion substance in the infusion container is kept in contact with the infusion liquid, in order to form the infusion beverage, over a contact period. The infusion container is then returned to its collapsed state, at least in part, by compression and, in the process, at least some of the infusion beverage is expelled from the infusion container.

An inhaler device having a pump unit (P) for producing a stream of compressed air, a drive (G) for the pump unit and a nebuliser unit (Z) which communicates with the pump unit and which is driven pneumatically. The inhaler device produces and releases an air stream which is charged in controlled manner with fine liquid active ingredient particles. The pump unit (P) is equipped with a short-stroke piston pump. The drive takes the form of a crank gear (G) having a gear transmission which can be driven by means of a hand crank (K), the output shaft of which is kinematically connected to the pump piston via an eccentric and drives the pump piston. The inhaler device need not use any elaborate energy supply and can be built in compact and handy fashion. It can be ready for use anytime and anywhere and is therefore particularly suitable for mobile use.

A brewing bag includes liquid-permeable filter material for use in a filter coffee brewing apparatus and has an essentially cylindrical or prismatic shape with a bottom part, a jacket and a cover part. The wall of jacket is reinformed near the cover part and has a collar which protrudes over the cover part. An optimal brewing effect is achieved through forming the brewing bag in this special way.

An active electro-optical filtering device, such as a glare-protection device is disclosed. The device is equipped with a light-protection filter having at least one active optical filter element, an electronic device for controlling the active filter element, a light sensor working together with the electronic device, and an electrical current supply for the electronic device and the at least one active filter element. In order to improve the efficiency in production and employment, the light-protection filter is arranged in a filter component and the electronic device, the light sensor and the electric current supply are arranged in a physically separate control component, wherein the filter components can be releasably connected mechanically and electrically to form a total unit, and for this purpose, are equipped with mutually cooperating mechanical and electrical connecting elements. In order to provide the user in his work with a viewing sense which is physiologically least disruptive in all viewing directions through the filter element and to meet basic requirements in regard to safety, such as improved spatial vision and therefore an unhampered sense of balance and the detection of approaching objects, the light-protection filter is provided with at least one optically active or passive compensation element such as an optical phase delay foil or an electro-optical filter for improving homogeneity of the light transmission, which is a function of the viewing angle. In addition, the light-protection filter is equipped with a field of vision adapted to the natural visual perception.

The method described relates to conditional dosing and nebulisation of a liquid or powdered preparation for inhalation. The condition for dosing and nebulisation of the preparation is that the inhaling person must produce an inhalation power according to his or her constitution and which is sufficient for an optimum effect of the inhaled preparation. Without this minimum inhalation power, no dosing and no nebulisation of the preparation is possible. The corresponding inhalation device comprises a known device for dosing and nebulising (without condition) and additional means which inhibit actuation of the device by positive locking until the minimum inhalation power is produced by the inhaling person. A preferred embodiment has, for dosing and nebulisation, a reservoir with a dosing and nebulising pump and, for said positive locking, a ball (13), which is loosely housed in a corresponding ball chamber (14). Upon inhalation, an air stream is generated through the ball chamber (14), which moves the ball (13) out of its locking position, into which it is driven by the force of gravity. so that the positive locking mechanism is released and the pump can be actuated manually.

A process is described for producing a valve-and-lid assembly composed of a lid and a valve body each of which has a determined configuration and is produced separately in finished condition, the valve body from a synthetic resin of physical properties similar to those of Hytrel, with a Shore hardness of about 78 to 92 when the valve body is to be assembled with an upper body portion resting on the outer lid face about a collar of the lid; and of about 70 to 92 when the valve body is to be introduced completely into the lid collar. The valve body is then placed partially into the collar, or on the mandrel of a pressure piston, and then abruptly struck by the piston to be rammed fully into the collar and stretched so that a lower head of the valve body is moved downwardly just out of a central lid opening at an internal collar end. The mandrel is then withdrawn, permitting the valve body to contract whereby its head sealingly engages the rim about the central opening of the collar.

Process for producing a valve-and-lid assembly

A valve-and-lid assembly comprises a self-closing discharge valve constituted by a dome part, having a central opening, of a lid closing the open top end of a pressurized container and serving as the obturating member of the valve by obturating ducts through a valve disc of elastically resilient material which is lodged in the dome part. When opening the valve by downward or tilting pressure exerted with the aid of a tubulure or the like actuating member on the valve disc, the latter is deformed so as to establish free communication between at least one of the ducts therein and the hollow interior of the tubulure which can carry a conventional atomizer head having a spray nozzle.

Self-closing valve-and-lid assembly

A valve-and-lid assembly adapted for closing off the open top end of a pressurized container comprises a lid having a dome part protruding on an upper or lower face of the lid and having a central opening. A valve disc of elastically resilient material is lodged in the dome part and extends with a valve head part thereof through the central opening. The latter is surrounded by an axially extending collar portion of the dome part depending from a flat top wall of the latter and having an annular rim about the opening which is in sealing contact with a contact face of the valve head when the valve is closed, thereby obturating product ducts provided in the valve disc. Pressure on the face of the valve disc opposite the valve head by means of a tubulure or the like actuating means, which can carry a conventional atomizer head or filling head, moves the contact face of the valve head away from the collar portion rim and opens free communication between the interior of the container covered by the lid and the interior of the tubulure.

A hand-held device for the local heat treatment of a patient's skin comprises a casing composed of a lower treatment part having a bottom wall with an external treatment face, and an upper handle part, and an electric heating unit in the treatment part comprising a power transistor with a cooling vane and a heat sensor, the cooling vane and the heat sensor being in heat transfer contact with the interior surface of the bottom wall, and an electric circuit unit inside the treatment part for controlling electric current flow through the power transistor depending on temperature variations detected in the bottom wall by the heat sensor. The circuit is fed low voltage direct current from a source therefor.

A closure membrane is described for closing a can opening which membrane comprises a flat part and a peripherally adjoining border zone destined to be hermetically sealingly connected to the can. In order to remove the flat part of the membrane safely and completely an opening is provided in the flat part of the membrane. This opening in the membrane is hermetically sealed by a piece of foil attached to the underside of the membrane and forming a tab element the bent back end of which projects out of the opening and forms the tab proper.

An automatic closure device for use in combination with a pressurized container which has a liquid or pasty filling dischargeable as a foam, as well as a propellant, and comprises a valve spring-biassed into the closed position is described, which closure device comprises an actuator head having a discharge orifice, a discharge duct in the actuator head which duct connects the discharge orifice with an entry port, remote from the orifice, in the actuator head and serving for connecting the latter to an outlet opening of the container controlled by the aforesaid valve, the discharge duct and orifice being surrounded by an integral wall consisting, at the discharge orifice and the wall portion adjacent the latter, of two wall zones the contact edges of which at the discharge orifice are of equal length and abut each other in closed position while, in open position, these contact edges merge with each other under an acute angle, one of these wall zones being elastically flexible and the other rigid; and a beak-shaped closing member having a lip portion and being associated with the actuator head in a manner such that the free end of the lip portion of the closing member rests against the elastically flexible wall zone from the outside of the latter at the discharge orifice, thus pressing the flexible wall zone in the closed position hermetically sealingly against the rigid wall zone.

An automatically opening and closing closure device adapted for use with a container having a liquid, pasty or foamy filling is described which comprises a head body, discharge duct means in the head body and having an orifice in the outside of the latter, the head body having an opening at a side thereof away from the discharge orifice and being destined for being joined to the container, the head body comprising a continuous integral wall portion about the discharge duct and orifice, the wall portion comprising an elastically flexible zone extending from part of the circumference of the orifice toward the opening, the remainder of the wall portion about the discharge duct and orifice being substantially rigid; and beak means comprising an elastically deflectable spring-loaded arm and being associated with the head body so that the free end of the arm is located on the side of the wall portion containing the flexible wall zone, the spring arm being biassed into engagement with the flexible wall zone near the orifice to hold the latter in sealing engagement with the rigid wall portion part and closing the orifice, the bias of the deflectable arm being so dimensioned as to yield to a determined excess pressure inside the discharge duct to cause the elastic zone of the wall portion to urge the free arm end away from the rigid wall part thereof and thereby to open the orifice, while the excess pressure prevails in the duct.
