A bone plate sized and shaped for fixation to a metacarpal includes a head extending from a first end to a second end and having first and second fixation element holes extending therethrough along first and second fixation element hole axes, wherein the first hole axis diverges from the second hole axis on a bone facing side of the plate, the head having a first notch on the first end centered on the central longitudinal axis, the first notch formed as a indentation on an outer wall of the bone plate sized and shaped to accommodate a collateral ligament when the plate is fixed to a metacarpal in a desired position and a shaft extending from the second end of the head to a third end along the central longitudinal axis, the shaft including an elongated fixation element hole elongated in a direction parallel to the central longitudinal axis.

Metacarpal neck plate

A bone fixation plate comprises a plate body extending from a first end configured for placement over a shaft of a bone to a second end configured and dimensioned for placement over an epiphysis of the bone, an outer diameter of the plate body increasing from the first end to the second end to substantially conform to dimensions of the bone. An opening extends through the plate from a first surface which faces away from the bone when mounted thereonto to a second surface which faces the bone when in the desired orientation, the opening being positioned so that, when mounted over the bone, a fracture of the bone is visible therethrough to aid in alignment of the bone plate. First and second holes extend through the plate, each of the first and second holes being structured to lockingly engage a threaded head of a bone fixation device inserted thereinto.

Plating concept for distal radial fractures

A bone screw is provided having first and second threaded portions of different diameter separated by a middle portion that is unthreaded so that the bone screw may be inserted into a pair of adjacent bone fragments and used to compress the fragments together by driving the screw into a hole drilled in the fragments. An installation tool is also disclosed for threadably engaging one end of the bone screw and is used to initially drive the screw into the bone hole. Thereafter, a screwdriver may be inserted through the tool and into engagement with a recess in the bone screw and may be used to drive the screw fully into the bone and to separate the bone screw from the installation tool. A method of installation is further provided.

A device for manipulating bone fragments includes a bone screw includes a shaft extending along a longitudinal axis. The shaft includes a first end having a first threaded portion with a first core diameter, a first external diameter and a first pitch. The shaft includes a second end having a second threaded portion with a second core diameter, a second external diameter and a second pitch. The second end further has a tool engaging surface, wherein the first external diameter is no greater than the second core diameter, the first and second pitches are substantially equal, and a non-threaded middle segment between the first and second threaded portions, an outer diameter of the middle segment being smaller than the first core diameter, and wherein the shaft includes a cannulation extending therethrough disposed coaxial with the screw longitudinal axis. An installation instrument includes first and second ends, a longitudinal axis, and a bore extending along at least a portion of the longitudinal axis, the bore in communication with the first end of the instrument, wherein the bore has threads along at least a portion of a length thereof, the threads configured to mate with the second threaded portion of the bone screw so that rotating the installation instrument rotates the bone screw to drive the screw into a bone.

Bone screw

A bone plate () having an upper side (), a bone-sided lower side (), a first end (), a second end () and several plate holes () arranged between the two ends () and connecting the upper side () to the lower side (), the plate holes being provided for receiving bone screws. Two of the plate holes () are formed by a combination of two partially overlapping boreholes () of different type. The first () of the two boreholes is a circular cylindrical bore, having an internal thread () and a cylinder axis (). The second borehole () has a cone axis () and tapers from the upper side () to the lower side () in the form of a frustum of a cone. The second borehole () is provided with an internal thread (). The cylinder axis () is situated at a distance A from the cone axis (), where A is different than zero.

Bone plate

A tool is described comprising a shaft having a first longitudinal axis and a front segment, wherein the front segment has a cross-sectional area, wherein the front segment is configured to engage at least a portion of a screw head, and wherein the front segment has at least a first recess having a second longitudinal axis substantially transverse to the first longitudinal axis; at least one spring element housed in the first recess, wherein a first portion of the spring element at least partially protrudes transversely across the first longitudinal axis; wherein the cross-sectional area is substantially polygonal, having a least one radii; wherein the second longitudinal axis is substantially aligned with at least one radii; and wherein the portion of the spring element protruding transversely across the first longitudinal axis is elastically deformable.
